Flux Constructs,[1][2] also known as Sky Giants,[3] or Sky Island Guardians,[4] are recurring Bosses, Sub-Bosses and characters in The Legend of Zelda series.

Characteristics

Tears of the Kingdom

Flux Constructs are Enemy Constructs that are made of several Blocks held together with a green Magic. These Blocks can shift into several different forms, including a humanoid figure, a giant cube, and a flying form that can be Ascended through. One of a Flux Construct's Blocks glows a bright green and acts as its weak point; pulling it out of the Flux Construct with Ultrahand will disassemble it and leave it vulnerable to attack for a while. It can also be disassembled by pulling out enough of its regular Blocks. There are three types of Flux Construct. Flux Constructs I are the base form, Flux Constructs II are a more powerful variant, and Flux Constructs III are the most powerful versions.

Once Link assists Gralens in hunting several large Monsters, he will ask Link to search for a giant creature that the Monster-Control Crew found in the Sky, starting the "Unknown Sky Giant" Side Quest, in which it is revealed to be a Flux Construct. After the completion of this quest, Gralens asks Link to defeat every Flux Construct in Hyrule. Once Link completes this task, Gralens awards him a Flux Construct Monster Medal.[5]

Though the Flux Constructs can enter a standby mode, reducing energy consumption outside of battle, they remain one of our less energy-efficient creations. Considering their limitations, I would love to improve on their design and give them greater range, but my sister says the ancients' schematics for them are quite abstruse.
