Location and Uses
Force Gem 16 is an optional Force Gem that can be obtained once Link completes the Fire Temple. Due to the rising temperatures, Niboshi, the Fish merchant of Papuchia Village, is concerned that her Fish will begin to spoil if she doesn't keep them cold.[2] She asks Link to bring her at least 10 chunks of Mega Ice, which can be purchased from Noko at the Wellspring Station.[3] As Mega Ice melts quickly in warmer areas, it is advisable for Link to drive the Spirit Train through Warp Gate C to travel more quickly between the Ocean Realm and the Snow Realm.
When the young hero returns to Papuchia Village with the Mega Ice, Niboshi thanks him by producing Force Gem 16.[4] This Force Gem creates a new section of Spirit Tracks in the Ocean Realm which go directly north from Papuchia Village to the tracks leading to the Tower of Spirits, allowing access to the Pirate Hideout along the way. They will also form a second link to the Forest Realm by connect to the tracks created by Force Gem 12, which would have previously come to a dead-end.
If Link verbally agrees to bring the Mega Ice, which is not necessary in order to receive Force Gem 16, then he will be unable to buy any Fish until the request is completed because Niboshi will be expecting the delivery of Mega Ice.[5]
