Frozen Zone
The Frozen Zone is a Level in Tri Force Heroes.[1] It is the fourth proper Level of the Den of Trials, preceded by the Scorching Zone and followed by the Fortified Zone.
Features and Overview
Items | Materials |
---|---|
Fire Gloves | 2× or or |
Boomerang | 1× or or |
Magic Hammer |
The Frozen Zone comprises Floors B16 to B20 of the Den of Trials, and it is based on the scenery and Enemies of the Ice Cavern Area of the Drablands. It is initially unlocked and accessed by completing the prior Scorching Zone; if all three Links have already unlocked the Frozen Zone, they can access it directly by standing on the fourth Triforce Gateway in the Den's hub Level.
Each Floor of the Frozen Zone is an ice-covered octagonal platform with no walls around its edges, and patches of snowy ground in the south corner where the Links appear, and in the north corner where the Triforce Gateway appears when all Enemies are defeated. However, each Floor features a different layout of holes in the ground, as well as tiles of ice that gradually break under the Links' weight, but soon freeze over again. Floor B16 has eleven such ice tiles, but no other holes; before the Enemies appear, the Links are provided with Fire Gloves, a Boomerang, and a Magic Hammer. Floor B17 has two rows of ice tiles spanning between the patches of snowy ground to the north and south; in the center is a circle of six Mole Holes, from which two Switch Moles pop out. Once both Switch Moles and the two Ice Keese are defeated, a second wave of Enemies appears.
Floor B18 has a large hole in the center of the Stage, surrounded by some ice tiles, which the Prankster Poes on each side will throw any Link they capture into. As the Prankster Poes and Blue Sword Soldiers are difficult for a single Link to defeat, the Links should stick together when battling them. Floor B19 has two waves of Enemies and is almost entirely covered in ice tiles, with seven small, permanent holes among them. The Ice Wizzrobes both appear at a height of two Links, requiring the heroes to form a Totem, while the dark Wizzrobe appears at a height of three Links. When they are defeated, a pair of Soldiers riding Totem Armos appear. These Enemies can be defeated by forming a Totem to reach them, or by melting the ice tiles beneath them.
Floor B20 is a safe room with three large Treasure Chests and a Squiddy for regaining Hearts. Two of the Chests contain the same random, bronze-rarity Material from the Ice Cavern (Fluffy Fuzzes, Tiny Snowflakes or Serpent Fangs) and the other contains a random, silver-rarity Material (Crimson Shell, Freezard Water or Chill Stone). Once the Chests are opened, the Links' progress is Saved; the Triforce Gateway leading to the Fortified Zone and a small Treasure Chest containing an extra Fairy then appear.
