Glitches in Tears of the Kingdom
While many of these glitches have been tested by editors, we cannot promise that these glitches won't harm your game data or game console. We ask that you please read the Glitch Disclaimer Notes before attempting any of these glitches.
The following is a large list of all the known glitches that can be performed in Tears of the Kingdom. Each glitch will come with instructions on what the glitch does, how to perform the glitch, and if the glitch has been patched (i.e. fixed) or not.
Duplication Glitches
Some of the glitches relating to dropping Weapons, Shields, and Zonai Devices are a result of how Tears of the Kingdom handles dropping Items from the Inventory menu. When Link drops an item from the pause menu and unpauses across multiple frames, the game attempts to find a place to spawn the Item without placing it inside a solid Object or terrain. When the game is then quickly unpaused and paused again and another equipped Item is dropped, this interrupts the process handling the placement the first object on the map.

Instructions Place them near the wall, stand on top of one of the Boulders, and do the Save/Load Duplication glitch with any Weapon. Load the autosave from the prologue. You will find the weapon you dropped on the stairs leading to the Ganondorf cutscene. Pick it up to access to the inventory. Now, do the Save/Load Duplication glitch again with the Master Sword here, then load the file from inside the Shrine. The glitched Master Sword will now be present near the Fire Fruit trees, and it can be collected like any other Weapon.

Instructions Remove any President Hudson Cutouts near the door. Place a Steering Stick within the doorway inside the storage room. Use Ultrahand on the Steering Stick and back up until Link is next to Rhondson's desk, then place the Steering Stick in the doorway to the storage room. Switch to the Fuse ability, then press Minus button and watch any Memory to advance the game by one frame. After it ends, resume the game and immediately mash the Y button to Fuse the Steering Stick to Link's Weapon, which should be a One-Handed Weapon without any Fused attachments. The game will try to Fuse the Steering Stick to the Weapon, but it will be interrupted until Link gets closer to the Steering Stick. Go to the door, quickly open the ability menu, and select Recall. Press Y and right D-pad at the same time. After this, the game will try to resume the Fuse process. This will cause a Fuse entanglement, in which an attachment object is not attached in the overworld, but it have properties as if it were. Link's Fuse animation should appear during the freeze. Now select a different One-Handed Weapon that is not fused. Alternatively, you can just watch two Memories, go to the equipment menu without unpausing, switch to another One-Handed Weapon, watch another Memory, and unpause. If done properly, the Steering Stick should be dropped next to Link. Step on to the stick, but do not start controlling it. Press right on the D-pad and then drop the Fused Steering stick Weapon. As you press the X button to drop, quickly press the A button to control the Steering Stick. When done properly, Link will fall through the ground and into the water out of bounds. Immediately mash B to disconnect from the Steering Stick, Swim to an area where the water slopes upwards. It should cause Link to void out, respawning him back to where the Steering Stick is. Pick up the Steering Stick Weapon, which results in Link becomes part of the culled Steering Stick. This Weapon is now part of a cullable object like the Steering Stick. The game treats it as if the Item is non-existent, which can cause some of Link's animations to not work properly. Place another Steering Stick and hop on. This will re-enable Link to open the ability selection menu. Fuse the glitched Steering Stick to your Shield. Then go back to the door and drop the Steering Stick Weapon inside. Hold an Apple, then slowly move to the left side of the door. Link should be facing towards the door from outside. At this point, Link may be culled along with the Fuse-entangled Item inside the house. If this happens, watch a Memory and move again. Repeat until you reach the bottom of the stairs. The Apple may automatically drop onto the ground. Pause, put the Apple away, and hold a Bird Egg instead. Without unpausing, watch a Memory, and unpause afterwards. The Egg must drop to the ground, and if it does not, watch a Memory and repeat until egg drops. After the Bird Egg drops, the game still thinks Link is holding it in his hands when viewing the Materials Inventory. Press Left on the D-pad, select another Shield, and watch another Memory. Exit the pause screen and return to the door where you glitched the Steering Stick. Drop the invisible Egg between the door and the red colored block to prevent the wind from blowing it away. Hold another Bird Egg and select any Item you wish to duplicate afterwards. When you unpause, items will start spawning in the area between the door and the block. Open the inventory again and decrease and increase the item you are holding to duplicate. You can now repeat this to continue duping. Duplicating Weapons, Shields, and Bows: The steps are the same until Fuse entanglement occurs. After placing the Steering Stick inside the house and activating Fuse, equip a Weapon and Shield. Watch a Memory and then immediately mash Y. To know if done successfully, watch two Memories in a row without unpausing, press plus, then switch your current Weapon to another, watch another Memory, and skip. Afterwards, unpause the game, and the Steering Stick should be placed next to Link. If not repeat this step. Additionally, you can also just mash Y when first watching a memory Now step on the control stick, but do not start controlling it yet. Open the Inventory, drop the Fuse-entangled Weapon, exit the menu, and immediately press A to get on the Steering Stick. Link will fall through the ground. Mash B immediately and swim to the aforementioned piece of water tile that is sloped upwards. Alternatively, Link's Stamina can be depleted. After respawning, pick up the dropped Weapon, place another Steering Stick, get on it to unlock the ability wheel. The glitched Steering Stick at this point is immobile due to the Fuse entanglement. To be able to move it, fast travel and return. The Steering Stick will not unload due to the game thinking it is part of Link. Use Ultrahand and place the Steering Stick back inside the house. Drop the Fuse-entangled Weapon facing the door. Then use Ultrahand and have it placed between the door and the red box. Equip the Weapon, Shield, or Bow to be duplicated. Then slowly go to the table next to Rhondson, making sure that Link's back is facing the door. If Link is culled, then this is done successfully. Open the Inventory and equip an Item to be "replaced" in the duplication process. Exit the menu to render them, reopen the menu, and drop the Items. Press Minus and watch a Memory. Upon closing the menu, those replacer Items are now the Items you wanted to dupe. To pick them up, watch another Memory to uncull Link temporarily. If this fails, watch another Memory. Walk to the door to have Link remain unculled. Now pick up the "transformed" Weapon, Shield, or Bow. To duplicate more, repeat the last 3 steps.

Instructions Equip a multi-shot Bow, then use Fuse to attach the Material you want to duplicate to an Arrow and shoot it up the Chasm towards the Surface. Aim just above the horizon line to help ensure the Materials land where the ground levels out, decreasing the odds of them rolling down into the Depths. If done correctly, the Arrow will despawn mid flight, leaving the Materials hanging in midair. Moving close to the Materials will cause them to fall to the ground, where they can be collected.
Notes
|
In both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, watching a Memory causes the game to advance by one frame, despite being in a pause screen. This causes entities in the overworld to perform actions: Enemies moving and/or attacking, NPCs moving around, etc. Certain actions like cutscene triggers and Link taking damage are disabled, since such events should not occur during a pause screen.

Instructions Then, take the enemy's HP and divide it by the number of damage your Weapon does, taking into account any Added Effects added by Meals or Armor. If there is a decimal, round up. Watch that many Memories and unpause. The Enemy should drop dead the second Link exits the menu. Each time the Memory is being watch, damage is registered to the Enemy. The same can be done with a Bow and Arrow by shooting an Arrow at an Enemy, pausing right before it hits, and watching the relevant number of Memories. This will let Link defeat almost anything with a single Arrow, provided he watches another Memory in the process.

Instructions Equip the Weapon or Shield you want to duplicate. Open the Ability selection menu and select the Map. Let go of the L button to close the menu, and then immediately mash on the D-pad to go to the Weapons or Shields mini-menu. If the Map screen opens, then the timing is too late. Go to the Item you have equipped and drop it. As the menu closes, immediately mash the D-pad to re-open the menu again. Equip another Weapon or Shield, then let go of the D-pad. The Map should open. Go to the Inventory menu from the map screen by pressing plus, then drop your equipped Weapon. Unpause the game. If done properly, the "You can't take that out here" message will be displayed. Link will now have multiple melee Weapons or shields stuck on his hand or his back, even when none of these are equipped.
