The Great Fairy of Flame is a character in Four Swords.[1]

Biography

The Great Fairy of Flame is the guardian of Death Mountain.[2] She appears from her Fountain at the end of Death Mountain after the Links have defeated Gouen. There, she bestows the Links a Small Key alongside a title befitting their achievements. The type of Small Key that she distributes is based on the amount of Rupees the Links have collected as well as whether they have defeated Vaati with a given set of Small Keys. If the Links have collected at least 1,000 Rupees, the Great Fairy of Flame will gift the Links a Silver Key and dub them "little hero eggs".[2] If the Links have collected at least 3,000 Rupees and have defeated Vaati after collecting all of the Silver Keys, she will dub them "brave heroes" and bestow upon them Golden Keys.[3] Defeating Vaati and returning to the Great Fairy of Flame's Fountain with at least 5,000 Rupees will prompt her to declare the Links the "greatest of heroes" and grant them Hero's Keys.[4]

The Great Fairy of Flame then cautions the heroes that they must have collected a complete set of Small Keys in order to open the way to Vaati's Palace.[5][6][7]

If the Links have defeated Vaati after collecting all of the Hero's Keys in Four Swords Anniversary Edition, the Great Fairy of Flame's appearance and personality will change to resemble the Great Fairy of Magic from Majora's Mask.[8][9]
