The Great Plateau Tower appears as a Stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The top of the Tower can be destroyed by attacks or Fighters bouncing against it, though it will regenerate after a period of time. While the roof of the Great Plateau Tower is destroyed, a platform will appear in its place. The Old Man from Breath of the Wild can be seen Paragliding in the background of the Stage, and will occasionally glide down onto the Tower.
Great Plateau Tower
The Great Plateau Tower is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Features and Overview
Breath of the Wild
The Great Plateau Tower is the first Sheikah Tower that Link activates in Breath of the Wild. Though the Tower was buried beneath the earth, a portion of it became exposed when Calamity Ganon's resurrection shook the earth.[3] After awakening from the Slumber of Restoration in the Shrine of Resurrection, Zelda instructs him to follow the marker displayed on the Sheikah Slate's Map.[4] This marker leads Link to a Guidance Stone in the buried remains of the Great Plateau Tower. By activating the Guidance Stone, Link causes the Tower to rise from the ground,[5] activating 120 Ancient Shrines across Hyrule Kingdom and causing the remaining Sheikah Towers to rise as well.[6] After it has risen, a Travel Gate will be activated atop the Tower and the Guidance Stone atop the Great Plateau Tower will begin distilling regional data of the Great Plateau Tower Region onto Link's Sheikah Slate, granting him a Map of the Plateau.[7][8] In response to this, Calamity Ganon will assume an ethereal form and begin rampaging around Hyrule Castle before being subdued by Zelda's sealing power. From atop the Tower, Link can hear Zelda pleading him to remember his mission to destroy Ganon before her power wanes.[9][10]
