Extra Hearts

Hearty Salmons inhabit cold bodies of water within the Hebra Mountains and the Tabantha Frontier. Their bodies accrete layers of fat in response to this, insulating them from their cold surroundings.[1] Eating them raw restores four Hearts to Link's Life Gauge. Exposed to fire, Hearty Salmons become Roasted Hearty Salmons. Alternatively, they can be exposed to Ice to become Frozen Hearty Salmon. Meals made using Hearty Salmons will grant Link temporary Hearts when eaten.[1]

During the Shrine Quest "Recital at Warbler's Nest", Kotts can be found fishing for Hearty Salmon just outside Rito Village.[4] When reminded of the recital, she will give Link a Hearty Salmon for Genli.[5]

Hearty Salmons are required to use while Cooking to create Hearty Salmon Muenière and Salmon Risotto. As with other fish in the game, Hearty Salmons can be used to make a Fish Skewer, a Fish and Mushroom Skewer, and Salt-Grilled Fish. Hearty Salmons are also among the seafood that can be used to make Fish Pie, Creamy Seafood Soup, Copious Fish Skewers, Glazed Seafood, Gourmet Meat and Seafood Fry, Meat and Seafood Fry, Monster Stew, Pepper Seafood, Prime Meat and Seafood Fry, Seafood Rice Balls, and Steamed Fish.
