Overview
After Princess Zelda has completed both the Main Quest "Still Missing" and the Side Quest "Runaway Horse", she can find Impa in Hyrule Castle's Throne Room declaring that it is time.[2] When spoken to, Impa asks Zelda if all of her travels across Hyrule have left her feeling tired.[3] Impa then reveals that she has been raising a Horse to give to Zelda.[4] While she did not predict that Zelda would end up going on such adventures, Impa believes that the Horse will be a loyal partner to her.[5] She directs Zelda to pick up the Horse at Hyrule Ranch, planning to send word to the workers there to expect her.[6] Following this conversation, "Impa's Gift" will begin.
At Hyrule Ranch, Zelda encounters Falfa wondering where someone is.[7][8] Upon noticing Zelda, she recognizes her as the princess and welcomes her.[9] She explains that her younger brother took Zelda's Horse out to exercise, but she expects them to be back soon.[10] At that moment, Falfa's brother returns to the Ranch in a panic.[11] She initially scolds him for shouting in front of Zelda, but he reveals that a Rift opened while he and the Horse were at the Carrot Patch.[12] Zelda's Horse bucked him off her back to save him, but she ended up being swallowed by the Rift.[13] Falfa apologizes to Zelda, and she departs for the Carrot Patch to assess the situation.[14]

When Zelda arrives at the Carrot Patch, she finds Falfa and her brother already there. Falfa is apologetic to Zelda and unsure of what to do, and her brother is saddened that the Horse that saved him is trapped.[15][16] The Patch's caretaker is also upset that it has been overtaken by a Rift.[17] After inspecting the Rift, Tri is able to create an entrance to the Still World.[18] This surprises both Falfa and her brother, the latter of whom begs Zelda to save the Horse.[19][20] Upon entering the Stilled Carrot Patch, Tri can sense that the other Tris are trapped in four separate areas.[21] Once they have all been rescued, Tri rallies them to mend the Rift.[22] With their business in the Still World done, Tri Warps Zelda back to Hyrule.[23]
Back in Hyrule, Falfa is shocked that the Rift is gone, but her brother notices that Zelda's Horse is missing.[24] Realizing that she may be scared, Falfa tries to call for the Horse, though she gives up soon after.[25] Her brother suggests that they lure Zelda's Horse back using Carrots, since the Horse enjoys them.[26] Using Bind, Zelda can pull one of the Patch's Carrots out of the ground. This causes her Horse to run back to the Patch and begin eating the Carrot. After checking her over, Falfa's brother declares that she is both healthy and happy to meet Zelda.[27] Falfa thanks Zelda for her help and gives her permission to leave with her Horse, expressing her gratitude that Impa left her in their care.[28] She also invites Zelda to participate in Hyrule Ranch's Flag Races with her Horse.[29] At this point, the two of them leave,[30] and "Impa's Gift" will be completed.
Once both "Impa's Gift" and "One Soldier Too Many" have been completed, the Side Quest "From the Heart" will become available.

It is time.

My dear princess, are you feeling weary from all of the traveling you've been doing? The land of Hyrule is vast, after all. Traveling on foot must take quite a bit of time.
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
To that end, I have news. The past few years, your loyal Impa has been raising you a steed!
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Of course, when I first began nurturing the foal, I had no idea you'd set off on such adventures! Well! Now you have a loyal steed! I'm sure she'll be a wonderful partner on your travels.

Your mare is being cared for at Hyrule Ranch just on the west side of Hyrule Field. So please, ask after her when you've got a spare moment. I'll let the ranchers know to expect you.
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Strange they're still gone.
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
They should have come back by now. I wonder if something's happened...
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Hm? Would you happen to be Princess Zelda? Welcome to Hyrule Ranch, Your Highness!
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Lady Impa told us to expect you. I'm afraid we don't have your horse here at the moment. My brother took her out for some exercise. But not to worry! They should be back soon.
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
FALFAAA!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Goodness! What are you shouting so loudly for? You'll fray the princess's nerves!
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom)Disaster! We were at the carrot patch northwest of Hyrule Castle, and a rift opened up!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
The horse threw me off her back to protect me, but she got caught in the rift!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Oh no... I'm so incredibly sorry, Princess Zelda. I'll go and see what I can do!
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
The horse is there—in that rift! What do we do? Oh, Your Highness, I'm so deeply sorry...
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
That mare, she saved me. We have to get her back...
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
My carrot patch... It's been eaten up by a rift!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
I can create an entrance here. Stand back, Zelda.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Wh-what is that?! Some kind of portal?
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
That mare, she saved me... Please, Princess! You have to bring her back!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
I can sense my friends here... They're trapped. They're trapped in 4 areas, to be exact. If we rescue them all, we can fix this rift.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
We've found all of my friends in this area. Now we can mend this rift.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Zelda, let's go back to your world now.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
The rift—it's gone!
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom)But, Falfa! I don't see Princess Zelda's horse anywhere!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Poor thing. Must be frightened and hiding somewhere. Heyyy! Come on back now, horsey! Hmm... She's not coming, is she...
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Oh, hey! What about the carrots? She absolutely LOVES carrot! Maybe the smell of a fresh carrot will get her to come back!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
All right! Seems like she's in good shape. I don't see any injuries. And she's clearly happy to meet her new companion!
— Hylian (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
You've been quite gracious to help us, Princess. Now she's yours to take with you. I'm grateful Lady Impa brought this mare into our lives.
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Oh, I should say! Have you heard of Flag Races? They're races hosted by Hyrule Ranch. You have to bring your own horse to participate. Please, feel free to drop by Hyrule Ranch if you're interested.
— Falfa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
See you, Princess!
