Kabetta
Kabetta is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Kabetta is the youngest of the Goron Blood Brothers,[1] a group consisting of himself and his brothers Bayge and Heehl. Kabetta and his brothers are passionate about training in difficult feats of strength and endurance. However, he is more docile and meek than the rest of the Goron Blood Brothers.[6] They all live in a house in southern Goron City, which has been left with a Sign saying they have gone to Gut Check Rock to train.[7]
Kabetta is involved in the "Test of Will" Shrine Quest at Mount Nabooru in the Gerudo Highlands. Kabetta and the other Goron Blood Brother have traveled to their ancestral training ground to train themselves to withstand the heat in Goron City.[8][9][10] Kabetta and the others invite Link to partake in their challenge.[11] If Link agrees, Kabetta will be inspired by his choice.[12] The three Goron Blood Brothers will then step onto the platform, and the contest of endurance will begin once Link joins them.[13]
To complete the challenge, Link will have to outlast the Goron Blood Brothers on the platform.[14] During the contest, Kabetta will have difficulty adjusting to the heat.[15] Kabetta is the first challenger to collapse.[16] After all three Gorons have collapsed, Link will be declared the winner.
Once their first contest has been cleared, the Goron Blood Brothers then challenge Link to their contest f ultimate endurance, which Kabetta explains is the toughest challenge known to Gorons.[17][18] He goes on to say that the next ring is even harder to withstand than the previous one.[19] Passing this test is supposed to reveal an Ancient Shrine.[20]
While watching Link attempt the second challenge, Kabetta remarks that his soul is on fire.[21][22] After Link has cleared the trial, Joloo Nah Shrine will rise from the ground nearby, which Kabetta is surprised by.[23] If Link has yet to attempt the Gut Check Rock Challenge, Kabetta encourages him to try it out.[24] If Link has already cleared the Gut Check Rock Challenge, Kabetta proclaims his respect for Link and resolves to beat it himself.[25]
Kabetta also appears at the base of the Gut Check Rock in northern Eldin Canyon, laying on the ground in exhaustion after failing his Gut Check Rock Challenge training.[1][26] Despite his own failures, he encourages Link to attempt the Gut Check Rock Challenge for himself.[27]
During the "EX Champion Daruk's Song" Main Quest, which is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack, the Goron Blood Brothers will train at Darb Pond, since they heard Daruk did the same thing.[28] The goal of the training is to stand on the Glowing Ring that has appeared on top of Darb Pond.[29] However, Kabetta informs Link that they are unable to stand on Lava.[30] He wonders whether Daruk actually completed this training, but he retracts that statement when he realizes it sounds like he is doubting Daruk.[31] The Goron Blood Brothers then get together to strategize.[32]
After Link has passed through the Glowing Ring, Rinu Honika Shrine will rise from the ground. Kabetta is relieved by the disappearance of the Glowing Ring, as that means he will no longer have to attempt the training.[33]

Trivia
- Bayge is one of several characters in Breath of the Wild that will hit Link back if he attacks them with a Weapon. Uniquely, he only does this on Mount Nabooru, as he will have no reaction if Link attacks him on Gut Check Rock. These attacks deal no damage.
