Twilight Princess

Breath of the Wild

The Kitchen is a building located within Rito Village. It features the Village's only Cooking Pot, which rests above a Campfire in the center of its floor.

Genli and Amali both frequent the Kitchen. When Link first arrives in Rito Village, Genli can be found in the Kitchen during the day. When spoken to, she will ask who Link is and if he came to stop Divine Beast Vah Medoh.[4] At night, he can encounter Amali standing by the Cooking Pot, and she wonders if Link has anyone to Cook for.[5] She goes on to explain that when she makes dinner for her family, she thinks about their future, but these dark thoughts disappear after she eats.[6] Amali encourages Link to use the Cooking Pot to make Food for himself.[7]

After completing the "Divine Beast Vah Medoh" Main Quest, Link can find Kheel at Warbler's Nest. She complains that her sisters have forgotten about practicing for their recital, and she asks Link to help retrieve them.[8] Kheel believes that Genli may difficult to convince, as she is likely in the Kitchen demanding Salmon Meunière.[2] This begins the "Recital at Warbler's Nest" Shrine Quest. True to Kheel's prediction, Genli can be found at the Kitchen, refusing to sing until she eats Salmon Meunière.[9] Her other three sisters have all left to gather ingredients to make it for her.[10]

When Link locates Notts, Kotts, and Cree, they will each give Link an ingredient on the condition that he return to the Kitchen to make Salmon Meunière for Genli.[11][12][13] If Link approaches Genli with Salmon Meunière in his Inventory, she is able to smell it and asks if he would give some to her.[14] Should he agree, Genli will immediately eat it.[15] After being reminded of her promise, Genli will leave the Kitchen to join her sisters.[16]

Once "Recital at Warbler's Nest" has been completed, Amali can be found in the Kitchen at all hours of the day. While she is here, she will speak to Link about her husband and daughters.[17][18]
