Properties |
Knight's Shields are mid-tier Shields once favored by the Knights of Hyrule who guarded the Royal Family of Hyrule.[1] They belong to the Knight's Gear equipment archetype, a series of Weapons manufactured for Knights.[3] They boast a great defense and Durability, comparable to that of even the strongest Enemy Shields. Though their metal construction makes them Durable, their weight makes it so they require more skill to wield.[1]
They can be found around the northern half of Hyrule Kingdom, wielded by Enemies in the Hebra Mountains and Eldin Mountains. There are a few notable exceptions, however, including a Treasure Chest in Gerudo Canyon Pass. Another Treasure Chest is located near Aquame Bridge leading to the Coliseum Ruins. It can be obtained as a reward from Selmie for completing the Shield-Surfing Mini-Game with a time between 1:45 and 2:00.[4] Finally, Russ sells a Knight's Shield on Trilby Plain for 300 Rupees.[5] If Link buys it from him, he will call it a sturdy Shield, which reminds him of the rumored Durability of the Hylian Shield.[6]
The following amiibo have a chance to spawn a Treasure Chest containing a Knight's Shield when they are scanned with the amiibo Basic Rune:
- Super Smash Bros. Series Link amiibo
- The Legend of Zelda series Series Link (The Legend of Zelda) amiibo
- The Legend of Zelda Series Toon Zelda (The Wind Waker) amiibo
- The Legend of Zelda Series Link (Twilight Princess) amiibo
- The Legend of Zelda Series Link (Skyward Sword) amiibo
- Breath of the Wild Series Zelda amiibo
Being made of metal, Knight's Shields conduct Electricity and will attract Lightning if equipped during a Thunderstorm. In addition, they sink if they are dropped in Water, and will burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate. Finally, Knight's Shields can be picked up and manipulated with the Magnesis Basic Rune on the Sheikah Slate.

A shiny new record deserves a shiny new shield. Here y'go!

The knight's shield? A study choice, sure. Perfect for shredding, my man! How's about 300 rupees?
— Russ (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Rock solid, man! That shield right there won't easily break, that's for sure. Oh! Speaking of not breaking, have ya heard about the Hylian shield? Everyone in the surfing scene covets that bad boy. It's clearly comissioned by the royal family or something'! Its sturdiness makes it perfect for shield surfing too! You don't really see 'em around these days...but rumor has it there's one in Hyrule Castle. Though no one has ever gone there and returned in one piece...
