The Kuh Takkar Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Melting Ice Hazard,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

Kuh Takkar Shrine is located on the Vatorsa Snowfield in the Gerudo Highlands, at the base of Laparoh Mesa. To access the Ancient Shrine, Link must melt the chunk of Ice that is frozen around the Ancient Shrine. This can be done with Fire Arrows, a Flameblades, a Great Flameblade, a Flamespear, or a Campfire. As Link enters the Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Kuh Takkar.[2]

Themes and Navigation

At the entrance of Kuh Takkar Shrine, there is an Ice block that can be found right in front of Link. When he approaches it, the voice of Kuh Takkar can be heard, telling Link that the path forward will only open when he offers them the Ice.[3]

The Ancient Shrine features one chamber with multiple columns of Fire. In order to complete the Trial, Link must bring an Ice block to the Monk's Pedestal without it being melted by the Fire. Link can use a metal block, which can be found submerged in Lava, in order to traverse through the Fire. Once Link passes the Fire, the door will open, allowing Link to approach the Monk's Pedestal.

When approached, Kuh Takkar will give Link a Spirit Orb for completing the Trial.[4] Following this, the Monk will wish Link well before fading away.[5]

A Treasure Chest within a pillar blocked by Fire. When Link opens it, he will receive a Frostblade.
