The Lanayru Road - West Gate is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Lanayru Road - West Gate is located between East Necluda and the Lanayru Great Spring. It is the crossroads leading from Kakariko Village, Rabia Plain, and the Lanayru Promenade. The area is full of long Grass, and Ore Deposits can be found on the sides of the surrounding cliffs. During the second Great Calamity, the Lanayru Road - West Gate suffered damage with the rest of the Lanayru Promenade.[3]

After the Main Quest "Seek Out Impa" has been completed, a Traveler can be found at the Lanayru Road - West Gate. The first time Link meets this Traveler, they recount that a year prior, they saw a something floating in the sky that was glowing, and they were unable to look away.[4] They were then bathed in light and woke up in Bed, and they ask Link what he thinks about it.[5] Initially, they thought it was a nightmare, but then they realized that they were not in their Bed.[6] They claim that the Bed was full of a strange liquid, and the room was empty except for a glowing device in the corner.[7] When they touched the device, they were overwhelmed with a sense of familiarity, and then they came to at the Lanayru Road - West Gate.[8] Again, they ask Link what he thinks about their story.[9] After Link responds, the Traveler reveals that they know he is the Hylian Champion.[10][11] The Traveler reveals that they are a Yiga Footsoldier, and they then attack Link.[12]

When Link encounters this Traveler again, he will find them grumbling.[13] If Link speaks to them, they comment that the Weather is going to be nice tomorrow.[14] No matter Link's response, the Traveler then says that he will not be alive to enjoy it.[15] At this point, the Traveler reveals that they are a Yiga Footsoldier and proceeds to attack Link once more.[16]
