Overview
During the Main Quest "Still Missing", the King of Hyrule sends Princess Zelda to rest in her Room.[2] When she wakes up, Impa passes along a message from the King to meet with him in the Throne Room of Hyrule Castle.[3] Inside the Throne Room, Zelda and Tri find the King, Minister Lefte, General Wright, Impa, and Lueburry already there. The King greets Zelda and declares that the purpose of this meeting will be to plan their next steps, since Hyrule is still in danger.[4] Tri brings up the fact that the Ganon that Zelda faced was an Echo.[5] Lefte previously theorized that Ganon was the source of the Rifts and their continued presence was an aftereffect of his battle with Link, but she asks Tri about their belief that another force was behind them.[6] The King of Hyrule and Lueburry both recount that Link was able to protect Zelda from this force, though he was captured in the process.[7]

At that moment, a Soldier enters the Throne Room with news for the King of Hyrule.[8] He informs the King that three oversized Rifts have opened across Hyrule, which shocks everyone in the room.[9] The King asks where the Rifts are located, and the Soldier reveals that they are on Eldin Volcano, in the Faron Wetlands, and atop Holy Mount Lanayru.[10] Upon hearing this, the King wonders whether these regions could have been targeted due to their connection to the Prime Energy, an ancient power left behind by the Golden Goddesses that the Royal Family of Hyrule carry legends about.[11] Lueburry and Lefte realizes that this means that the Rifts are not natural phenomena, but they were instead created by their enemy with the goal of obtaining the Prime Energy.[12] The King shares another legend, which states that a priestess and a hero will appear to defeat evil when it covets the Prime Energy.[13]
After the group considers this legend, Tri suggests that Zelda could be the priestess from the legend, since she has helped mend several Rifts.[14] Minister Lefte agrees that she is, though she questions who the hero is.[15] The King puts Link forward as a candidate, and Lueburry recalls that he was able to move in the Still World and has been fighting their enemy.[16] While both figures mentioned in the legend have appeared, Lueburry laments that Link has been captured.[17] The King commands Zelda to mend the oversized Rifts, rescue Link, and defeat their enemy.[18] Although he wants her to live a peaceful life, he acknowledges that her role as the priestess is important, and he vows to help her however he can.[19] He tells Lefte to continue her research with Lueburry, while Wright will fight Monsters across Hyrule with his Soldiers.[20]

The King of Hyrule then orders Impa to provide Zelda with a set of Clothing.[21] Impa asks Zelda to follow her out of the Throne Room, and she helps her change her outfit.[22][23] Zelda then returns wearing the Royal Travel Attire. The King explains that the garments have been passed down through the Royal Family of Hyrule, and their purpose will be to keep her safe.[24] While they are still unsure what their enemy wants to do with the Prime Energy, the King urges Zelda to protect Hyrule.[25] Following this meeting, "Lands of the Goddesses" will begin alongside "Rescuing the Hero Link".
In order to complete "Lands of the Goddesses", Princess Zelda must complete the following Main Quests:
At the ends of the Dungeons that Zelda traverses during these Main Quests, she will meet with its respective Goddess. She encounters Din in Eldin Temple, Farore in Faron Temple, and Nayru in Lanayru Temple. For the qualities she demonstrates in reaching them, each Goddess grants Zelda their sanction.[26][27][28] The first time Zelda meets with one of the Goddesses, she explains that Zelda will be able to reach the Prime Energy once she has received all three sanctions.[29] After the Goddess leaves, Tri realizes that their enemy has likely not been able to reach the Prime Energy.[30] As a result, they believe the Goddesses were trapped in the Still World in order to hinder them.[31]

The second time Zelda meets a Golden Goddess, she reveals the story of the force behinds the Rifts.[32] Prior to the Creation of the World, there was only Emptiness.[33] Any life that formed in that Emptiness would be consumed by Null, who wanted the exist on their own in the void.[34] In order to stop Null, the Golden Goddesses created Hyrule and the rest of the world.[35] Afterwards, Null would create Rifts with the goal of returning the world to Emptiness, so the Goddesses created the Tris to mend them.[36] At the end of this story, the Goddess tells Zelda that she has one sanction left to collect.[37] Following this, Tri thinks about what they have learned.[38]
The third Golden Goddess that Zelda meets tells her that she can find the path to the Prime Energy in an Ancient Forest guarded by a Sacred Tree, where she may be able to find Link.[39][40] Once Zelda has met with all three Goddesses, "Lands of the Goddesses" will be completed.
After finishing "Lands of the Goddesses", the Main Quest "The Prime Energy and Null" will become available.

My daughter? Creating rifts? It seems the impostor posing as me has spread some damaging untruths. I will clear up the misunderstandings. Please, go rest for now. You have done well. Thank you, Zelda.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Well, my apologies for disturbing you so soon after waking, but I bring a message from the king. He requests that you come to the throne room once you are fully rested. I will go on ahead. We'll be waiting for you.
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Ah, Zelda. I trust you got some rest. Now, then. We are all here. It is time for us to discuss next steps. Tri informed us earlier about what is occurring in Hyrule. Through your hard work and determination, the large rifts have been tended to. Still, peace has not been restored to Hyrule. There is work yet to be done.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Right. The Ganon we fought beneath the castle was an echo. He was created... So it's possible that the monsters that captured my friends were also echoes like Ganon.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Initially, I deduced that everything had been at the hands of that monster, Ganon... That following Link's defeat of Ganon, we were seeing the aftereffects of their battle. But, Tri, you believe we may have been facing a different enemy all along?
— Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
And Link saved Zelda from this mysterious foe...
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)But then Link was captured! Oh, Link... I hope you are safe...
— Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Your majesty!
— Soldier (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Large rifts are opening up all across Hyrule again! Three of them at once this time...
— Soldier (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
No... Where are these rifts appearing?
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)They have appeared in Eldin Volcano, Faron Wetlands, and Holy Mount Lanayru, Sire.
— Soldier (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Eldin, Faron, and Lanayru. I wonder. Considering those locations, then could it be...
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)What is it, Sire?
— Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)Those regions connect directly with the Prime Energy!
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)With the what now?
— General Wright (Echoes of Wisdom)The Prime Energy—a source of power beyond our understanding, left behind by the goddesses. The knowledge of its existence has been passed down through the royal family since long ago. Those three regions connect to the three goddesses and, in turn, to the Prime Energy.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
It's as though the rifts are targeting those areas very specifically... This might mean...the rifts aren't natural occurrences but are being created by someone!
— Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)That's impossible...
— General Wright (Echoes of Wisdom)But, then...if that's true...the Prime Energy could end up with the enemy!
— Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
There are yet more legends passed down by the royal family of Hyrule... "When evil strives for the Prime Energy, a wise priestess and a courageous hero will appear." "Together, the priestess and the hero will rend this evil asunder."
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
A priestess and a hero...
— General Wright (Echoes of Wisdom)Zelda has gotten rid of many rifts... Could Zelda be the priestess of legend?
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
She... She must be! But then, who is this hero?
— Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Perhaps it is the swordsman, Link?
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)Eh?! Come to think of it, Zelda mentioned that Link's able to move, even while in the Still World... He's also been fighting the enemy all on his own.
— Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
If Link is the hero, then that means both the priestess and the hero have indeed appeared!
— Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)True, but Link's been captured by the enemy...
— Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Zelda. Mend the three rifts in the regions connected to the goddesses. This will thwart our enemy. In order to stop the enemy completely, however, you must do even more than that. You have to find the hero Link, and the two of you must join forces, fighting together.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
My daughter, I have only and ever wished for a peaceful life for you. But it seems that fate has other plans. You are the priestess of legend, the hope of Hyrule. We will do everything in our power to support you on this most dire journey.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Minister Lefte. You are to continue working with Lueburry, monitoring the rifts. General Wright. Lead your soldiers to contend with the monsters across Hyrule.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Impa. It is time. Provide Zelda with the garments.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom)I will do so with haste, Sire.
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Come with me, Princess.
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Oh, Princess, these clothes suit you well!
— Impa (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
These are you ancestral vestments—passed down through the royal family. They will be perfect for your needs as you continue on your quest.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
I imagine the enemy's ultimate aim is to obtain the Prime Energy. We do not yet know the enemy's true nature, but I fear that Hyrule is in grave danger. As a leader of Hyrule and the priestess of legend, please do what you must to protect our kingdom.
— King of Hyrule (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Priestess. Your power has freed this land, which was swallowed by nothingness. I am the goddess Din, one of the three who created your world. You have demonstrated true power, thus I grant my sanction unto you.
— Din (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Priestess. Your courage has freed this land, which was swallowed by nothingness. I am the goddess Farore, one of the three who created your world. You have demonstrated true courage, thus I grant my sanction unto you.
— Farore (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Priestess. Your wisdom has freed this land, which was swallowed by nothingness. I am the goddess Nayru, one of the three who created your world. You have demonstrated true wisdom, thus I grant my sanction unto you.
— Nayru (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
This sanction extols your deeds. The path to the Prime Energy will open for the one who stands before each of the three. Two remain.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
"The path to the Prime Energy will open for the one who stands before each of the three." So...we won't get near the Prime Energy before demonstrating our abilities to the goddesses. This probably also means that our enemy hasn't gotten near the Prime Energy yet either.
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Makes sense why the enemy imprisoned the goddesses in the rifts—to hinder us. They must be afraid of someone getting the Prime Energy. I wonder what this energy even is...
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Priestess, I will tell you of the one who has torn this land asunder with the rifts.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Before the creation of the skies and the lands, there was a void—a vast nothingness.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
In the void, some things would begin taking form, only to be devoured by the one who dwelt there. The name of this one is Null. Null desired the world in its entirety and consumed all life indiscriminately.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
We three goddesses could not abide this and created the skies and the lands to contain Null.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
All the while, Null continued creating rifts, working ceaselessly to return the world to a void. And so we brought forth the Tris to dissipate the rifts, thus keeping the balance.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
One sanction remains.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Null... Our enemy has a name now. This is the one who has been making all the rifts. And the goddesses created my friends and me in order to oppose Null. Hm...
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
Priestess. We three have borne witness to your true nature. Now, to open the path to the Prime Energy, go to the ancient forest guarded by the sacred tree. There you may also encounter the hero you seek.
— Golden Goddess (Echoes of Wisdom) - ↑
We have gotten all of the sanctions. Now we "go to the ancient forest guarded by the sacred tree." And Link will be there too...
— Tri (Echoes of Wisdom)
