Legendary Pictographs are Items in The Wind Waker.[1]

Location and Uses

Legendary Pictographs are special Pictographs featuring subjects who are considered legendary or mythical.[1] Seven different Legendary Pictographs are available to collect; in most cases, their subjects are ones that Link is unable to take Pictographs of during the course of his adventures, making it possible to create Figurines of them for the Nintendo Gallery.

The Pictographer Lenzo, having collected many Legendary Pictographs over the years,[2] becomes willing to sell them once Link has proven himself dedicated to the craft by obtaining the Deluxe Picto Box.[3] Lenzo will only sell one Legendary Pictograph per day, with the subject depending on the current phase of the moon, which changes every evening. In addition, he will only sell a Legendary Pictograph of a given subject if Link has already encountered that subject in-person.[note 1]

To purchase a Legendary Pictograph, Link must show Lenzo his Deluxe Picto Box with at least one Pictograph slot open,[4] then pay him 50 Rupees in The Wind Waker,[5] or 150 Rupees in The Wind Waker HD.[6] If Link deletes the Pictograph from his Deluxe Picto Box's storage, or gives it to Carlov in the Nintendo Gallery, he will be able to purchase it again the next time the moon enters the corresponding phase. Legendary Pictographs in The Wind Waker HD are in full color with higher resolutions, and feature different angles from those seen in The Wind Waker.

Trivia

  • Using the Legendary Pictograph of the King of Hyrule to create a Figurine will also produce a Figurine of Princess Zelda.
  • A regular Pictograph of Ganondorf (as well as Princess Zelda) can be taken during the battle against him, then used to create a Figurine by Saving and restarting the game outside of the battle, or by carrying the Pictograph over into the Second Quest.

Notes

  1. Link must face Ganondorf after defeating Helmaroc King to obtain his Legendary Pictograph. Their earlier meeting, in which Ganondorf is not fully seen, does not count.
