Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Lover's Pond is a Heart-shaped pond located atop Tuft Mountain in East Necluda, directly to the west of Lurelin Village.[3][note 1] According to legend, the Lover's Pond is said to show people to their soulmate.[6][7] Following this legend, many individuals throughout Hyrule search for the Pond, hoping to find their soulmates.[1][8]

When Link arrives at Lover's Pond, he will find Wabbin and Perda standing at either of its ends. They have both come to find their true love, but Wabbin's hesitance is frustrating to Perda.[9][10] If Link speaks to Wabbin, he states that he is working up the courage to speak to Perda.[11] He goes on to explain that he became lost on his way to Lover's Pond, but when he opened his eyes, he saw Perda and fell in love with her.[12] Wabbin has always wanted to confess to the girl of his dreams by giving her a Blue Nightshade, but he does not have one.[13] This begins the "A Gift of Nightshade" Side Quest.

After Link gives Wabbin a Blue Nightshade, Wabbin will initially be excited, but he soon becomes nervous and asks Link to deliver it to Perda on his behalf.[14] Once she receives the Blue Nightshade, Perda will become suspicious.[15] She then confronts Wabbin,[16] who becomes fearful and wonders if she dislikes the Flowers.[17] Perda explains that Blue Nightshades are her favorite Flower, and she accuses Wabbin of being a Yiga Clan spy.[18] However, after Wabbin reveals his intentions,[19] Perda is convinced that their meeting is the result of destiny and demands that Wabbin speak his piece.[20] At Wabbin's confusion,[21] Perda gives examples of how a man should ask out a woman.[22][23] Wabbin, believing that Perda is asking him out, accepts her request.[24] To reward Link for his assistance, Wabbin gives him a Red Rupee.[25] Perda is angered that Wabbin would give him so little,[26] so Wabbin gives Link a Silver Rupee.[27] Perda then thanks Link, wishing him luck in finding his own true love.[28]

A metallic Treasure Chest can be found at the bottom of Lover's Pond. Using the Magnesis Rune, Link can pull the Chest from the Water. When it is opened, Link will receive a Throwing Spear.

Notes

  1. In Creating a Champion, Lover's Pond is shown on a map to be part of the Faron Region.[4] However, this contradicts the game's file data for the location, which considers it to be part of East Necluda.[5] Therefore, this is not considered Canon.
