The Mabe Village Ruins are a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Mabe Village Ruins are located roughly in the center of Hyrule Field. They are the remains of Mabe Village, a trading hub prior to the second Great Calamity.[3] As they were destroyed during the Great Calamity,[4][5] the Ruined Houses in the Ruins are now devoid of life. They were likely the second settlement that was destroyed during the Great Calamity,[6] following Hyrule Castle Town. Any possible survivors are speculated to have crossed Horwell Bridge and waded through Squabble River to retreat to Fort Hateno in the Necluda Region.[7]

The Mabe Village Ruins are bordered by Mabe Prairie to the northeast, the Ranch Ruins to the southeast, and Passeri Greenbelt to the west. Two Fallen Guardians can be seen in the Ruins. These can be searched for Ancient Materials. A broken Wagon that can be searched for Gems is situated at the southeastern edge of the Mabe Village Ruins.

After the fall of Hyrule Kingdom, the bandit Misko stole Tingle's Tights from Hyrule Castle and hid them among the Mabe Village Ruins.[3] In The Master Trials Downloadable Content pack, Misko's EX Journal details this event and hints the location of the stolen treasure. In the "EX Treasure: Fairy Clothes" Side Quest, Link can find and retrieve the Tights from a metallic EX Treasure Chest in the ground beneath the Fallen Guardian in the south of the Ruins.[8] This Treasure Chest must be retrieved from the ground with the Magnesis Rune.

Atop the keep on the western side of the Mabe Village Ruins, Link can find a stone Treasure Chest that contains a Silver Rupee. Another stone Treasure Chest containing a bundle of 10 Ice Arrows can be found in the Ruined House at the center of the Ruins. A third stone Treasure Chest containing a bundle of 10 regular Arrows sits beside the small pond at the southern portion of the Village Ruins. A dried well sits in the western portion of the Mabe Village Ruins, around which Link can find Barrels and metal crates.

A single Korok Seed Puzzle is located in the Mabe Village Ruins. It takes the form of a Rock on the eastern side of the Ruins. When Link picks the Rock up, it will be revealed as a Natural Hiding Spot, and a Korok will appear to give him a Korok Seed.[9]
