Biography

Breath of the Wild

Magda is a Hylian who resides on the Floret Sandbar. Magda planted a maze of Flowers surrounding the Hila Rao Shrine,[2][3] where she regularly tends to them. Because of her investment in her garden, she becomes upset if people step on or harm the Flowers.[4][5]

When Link first speaks to Magda, she proclaims that she is pleased with how the Ancient Shrine looks now, and while she welcomes him to look at the Flowers, she also warns him to be careful not to step on them.[2] If Link steps on the Flowers before interacting with Magda, she will yell at him to stop.[6] She then explains that she was the one who planted the Flowers, and she tells him to be careful not to cause them harm.[3] After either of these exchanges, the "Watch Out for the Flowers" Shrine Quest will begin.

The first time Link steps on the Flowers, Magda will be angered, saying that they are screaming in pain.[7] If Link disrupts the Flowers a second time, she will yell at him to treat them carefully, as they are living beings.[8] If he does so a third time, Magda will become despondent, saying that she has told him to stop so many times that she has lost count.[9][10] She cannot comprehend how Link does not understand.[11] Suddenly, she shouts in anger before taking off.[12] While running through her garden, Magda rants at Link about his trespasses before falling on her face.[13] She then resolves to make Link understand the "flowers' rage," at which point she attacks him.[14]

When Magda attacks Link, she will remove three Hearts from his Life Gauge. Her attack him will leave him with a minimum of a quarter of a Heart. If Link has less than three Hearts when she attacks, she will not cause any damage to him, instead knocking him out. Following this, the process of angering Magda will start over.

After Hila Rao Shrine has been activated, Magda will notice that it has changed in color, believing this to be because it is pleased with her Flowers.[15] When spoken to again, she will ask if he has been stepping on the Flowers recently.[16]

Tears of the Kingdom

Magda is recruited by Princess Zelda to help restore the flowers on the Floret Sandbar. To this end, Magda and Princess Zelda borrowed several farming tools from Izra at the nearby Wetland Stable; however, Princess Zelda went missing during the Upheaval and the farming tools were never returned. Izra, accompanied by Link, travels down the Hylia River in search of the missing tools, and learns the truth from Magda, who has continued tending to the flowers in the princess's absence. Izra is satisfied knowing the tools are still being utilized, but accidentally volunteers himself to assist Magda, who forcibly puts him to work.

Should Link step on or otherwise damage Magda's flowers after this point, she will chide him, quoting what she believes the flowers would say in increasingly desperate and aggressive ways; however, she will no longer attack him.
