Masaru is a mischievous monkey in Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love.[name references needed] He lives in Page 6 and in Page 7. When Tingle first encounters Masaru, he is mocked by the monkey, whom he cannot reach, as he is up in a tree. Masaru has a fear of dogs, and when Tingle lures him to the ground with a Banana, the dog will attack Masaru. During the fight, Masaru will drop the dentures that he stole from a fisherman.

Later on, Tingle has the opportunity to have Masaru temporarily join his party, if he allows Kakashi to remain behind. Masaru can help out by climbing trees, and bringing down fruits and even a hat at times. He can also perform several poses which have no effect. After Iona unlocks the gate, Masaru will captain the boat that takes Tingle to an island.
