Material Picture
Material Pictures are recurring Objects in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Locations and Uses
Breath of the Wild
Material Pictures are sold by Symin at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.[3] They are Pictures of Materials from the past that have been stored on the Lab's Guidance Stone, and Link can purchase them to unlock their Hyrule Compendium entries.[1][4] A single Material Picture costs 100 Rupees.[5]
The number of Material Pictures that Symin has in stock is the same as the number of Hyrule Compendium entries that Link is missing. There are a total of 36 Material Pictures. When Link buys Material Pictures, his Hyrule Compendium will be updated with a corresponding amount of entries.[6] Default Material Pictures can be overwritten by taking a new Picture of the subject, but it is impossible to restore them.[7]

It seems the Hyrule Compendium recovered a picture from the past! It appears the picture from the Guidance Stone was transferred to your Hyrule Compendium. You can't restore transferred pictures, so be careful of overwriting it.
