The Mayor's Residence,[1] also known as the Mayor's Official Residence,[2] is a location in Majora's Mask.

Features and Overview

Situated in East Clock Town, the Mayor's Official Residence is the office of Mayor Dotour and is also the home to his wife, Madame Aroma, and son, Kafei. It is open to the public from 10 AM to 8 PM.[3] The building does not function only as a home, however; it is also where the mayor does his mayoral duties and holds meetings.

There is a Receptionist in the lobby of the Residence who will direct visitors to one of two rooms. On the left is the mayor's office, wherein he does important tasks such as signing papers, holding meetings and making sure that the citizens of Clock Town are happy.[4] To the right is the drawing room, which doubles as Madame Aroma's office.[5] Madame Aroma and Toto can be found here. When spoken to for the first time, Madame Aroma will confuse Link with the expert person-finder she hired and give him Kafei's Mask.[6] Adjoined to the drawing room is the family's bedroom, where Kafei's Diary can be found.

A discussion is being held in the mayor's office during most of Link's three days in Termina. The meeting's topic is whether to mandate an evacuation notice to the townsfolk and whether the Carnival of Time should still take place or not. Mutoh, the head of the Carnival Committee, is strongly against mandatory evacuation, but Viscen, the Soldiers' captain, is in favor of it.[7]

If Link wears the Couple's Mask during the meeting, the Mayor will be reminded of the marriage arrangement and conclude that being with their families is more important than continuing the meeting,[8] and he will decide against the mandatory evacuation. Instead, he concludes that the decision to stay in town or seek shelter is for each family to decide on their own.[9] He will then reward Link with a Piece of Heart.[10]

Meanwhile, Madame Aroma and Toto are in the drawing room canceling all the performances they had prepared for the Carnival of Time due to the singer of The Indigo-Go's losing her voice.[11]
