Mils is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Mils is a Hylian who hunts for treasure throughout Hyrule alongside his sister, Mina.[4] The siblings will be under attack by a pair of Bokoblins when Link comes upon them. They can be encountered near the Exchange Ruins, in the Gatepost Town Ruins, and at the Rauru Settlement Ruins. Mils carries a Traveler's Sword and a Wooden Shield.
While Mils is being accosted, he will draw his Traveler's Sword to defend himself.[5][6][7] During this time, he resolves to give the Bokoblins a fight they will not forget.[8] He may also wonder why this is happening to him.[9] If Mina is knocked unconscious while Mils is fighting, he will be concerned for her.[10][11] Alternatively, if Mils is the one knocked out, he will note that he was useless against the Bokoblins, and he considers whether he should have played dead.[12]
If Link saves Mils, he will be relieved.[13][14][15][16] When spoken to, he may thank Link for his assistance.[17] He might also wonder what would have happened had Link not helped them.[18] As a reward, he will give Link Food and Rupees.[19] After the Bokoblins have been defeated, Mils will thank Hylia that Mina is safe, and he recalls that it was dangerous to go treasure hunting at their current location.[20]
While Mils searches for treasure, Mina will direct him to hurry,[21] which Mils apologizes for.[22] When Link speaks to Mils during this time, he states that any treasure at their current location already belongs to him and Mina, and he discourages Link from searching on his own.[23] However, he then remarks that nobody in their right mind would be searching for treasure there to begin with.[24] Mina is the one who decides where they search, but Mils only wants to return home.[1] Hearing him speaking, Mina orders Mils to keep searching for treasure.[25] After this, Mils grumbles to himself about family.[26]
As Link speaks to Mina, she warns him to stay away from Hyrule Castle, since it is surrounded by Guardians.[27] Mils joins their conversation and claims that people who are spotted by Guardians do not live long afterwards, which makes him nervous.[28] Mina remarks that he should focus on finding treasure, or else she will give him something to worry about.[29] Mils then grumbles about family.[26]
During "EX Champion Urbosa's Song," which is a Main Quest exclusive to The Champions' Ballad Downloadable Content Pack, Mils and Mina can be encountered at the back entrance to the Yiga Clan Hideout, outside of Master Kohga's Room. They came in search of the Sacred Orb, which the Yiga Clan stole from the Gerudo.[30] When spoken to, Mils is surprised that so many members of of the Yiga remain, as he had heard they were defeated by a traveling swordsman.[31] He has been able to determine that the Sacred Orb is located on the second floor of the Yiga Clan Hideout Hall.[32] However, Mils believes that infiltration would be too dangerous, as an important part of being a great treasure hunter is staying alive.[33]
When Link exits the Yiga Clan Hideout with the Sacred Orb, Mils will be shocked that he was able to steal it.[34] He claims that when the Yiga Clan find out, they will chase Link for the rest of time.[35] When Link throws the Sacred Orb into the Yiga Clan Hideout Chasm, he and Mina will run to the edge of the pit. If Link speaks to Mils, he angrily asks what Link was thinking.[36]

Trivia
- Mils is one of several characters in Breath of the Wild that will hit Link back if he attacks them with a Weapon.[37][38][39] These attacks deal no damage.
