Minister Lefte is a character in Echoes of Wisdom.[3]

Biography

Minister Lefte is a Hylian and a minister for Hyrule. She is polite and serious.[4] Alongside General Wright, she directly serves the King of Hyrule.

When Princess Zelda returns to Hyrule Castle after being kidnapped by Ganon, Minister Lefte can be found in the Throne Room at the King of Hyrule's side. She and the others are all shocked to see Zelda when she approaches them. Although she is relieved to see that Zelda is safe, she is ashamed that they were unable to rescue her.[5] General Wright asks Zelda to forgive both him and Lefte for their failures, but the King of Hyrule states that they should not be feeling regretful during such a joyous occasion.[6] Upon hearing about the swordsman that saved Zelda, Lefte discerns he must have been stolen away by the Rift he disappeared into.[7] As the King of Hyrule informs Zelda about the increased number of Rifts that appeared while she was gone, Lefte adds that adults are now being stolen away alongside children.[8]

Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of a Soldier, who brings them an update on the Rifts.[9] The Soldier reveals that a resident of Suthorn Village has fallen into a Rift and that dark Monsters have begun attacking people in Hyrule Field.[10] In response, the King of Hyrule orders Lefte to continue her research into the Rifts in the hopes of finding a way to save those who have been stolen away.[11] After he gives his commands, however, a Rift forms on the throne behind them. The King pushes Zelda out of the way, but he, Minister Lefte, and General Wright are all stolen away.

Echoes of the three then emerge from the Rift. The King of Hyrule? accuses Princess Zelda of creating the Rift and orders that she be imprisoned, and the Echoes of Minister Lefte and General Wright support his claim.[12] As a result, the Soldiers imprison Zelda in the Hyrule Castle Underground.[13]

While Zelda is traversing the Stilled Suthorn Forest during the Main Quest "The Mysterious Rifts", she can encounter Minister Lefte, who has been petrified. Tri assures her that after they mend the Rift, Lefte will be restored to normal.[14] After Zelda clears the Suthorn Ruins and mends the Rift in Suthorn Forest, Lefte will run up to her.[15] She introduces herself and asks where they are.[16] Zelda then pulls down the hood of her Disguise, revealing her identity to Lefte.[17] Lefte is embarrassed that she did not recognize Zelda, but she asks why she is wearing a Disguise.[18] Upon hearing about what has happened in her absence, Lefte is shocked by the danger she has faced.[19]

Despite her concerns, Lefte is surprised by Zelda's ability to use the Tri Rod to create Echoes, as well as her companionship with Tri.[20] Turning to Tri, Lefte thanks them for their help, which leaves Tri shocked that she can see them.[21] Lefte wonders who would be able to miss them, referring to Tri as "precious".[22] Tri states that Zelda used to be the only person who could see them, and Lefte finds it strange that Impa was unable to.[23] Worried about the whereabouts of the King of Hyrule and General Wright, Lefte decides they need to formulate a plan.[24] To start, she believes they should visit the House that Impa directed Zelda to visit.[25] After reviewing Zelda's Map, Lefte recognizes that the House belongs to Impa's brother, Lueburry.[26]

Minister Lefte offers to lead the way to their destination, and she asks Princess Zelda to follow her.[27] If Zelda strays too far from Lefte during their journey, Lefte will call out to her that they should walk together.[28] When they reach Lueburry's House, Lefte directs Zelda to join her inside.[29] Within Lueburry's House, Lefte attempts to introduce herself to Lueburry, but he refuses to look up from his work and tells her to leave.[30] She tries to reason with him, though he insists he has to leave and save Link.[31] However, he stops when he notices that Zelda is wearing Link's cloak.[32] After Zelda explains what happened to her, Lefte expresses her relief that he is listening to them now.[33] When Lueburry learns that only a few people are able to see Tri, Lefte remarks on how interesting and adorable they are.[34] Lueburry theorizes that this is because both him and Lefte have been restored after falling into the Still World.[35]

Lueburry explains that he created the Sword of Might for Link, and Minister Lefte asks why he did so.[36] In response, Lueburry reveals that it was intended to defeat Ganon, the Monster that had previously kidnapped Princess Zelda, as well as other Monsters that appear from Rifts.[37] Lefte realizes that Link has also been dealing with Rifts, and Lueburry nods in confirmation.[38] When Lueburry states that they need more information on the Rifts, Lefte steps forward.[39] She recalls that when she fell into the Rift at Hyrule Castle, she felt like she was moved a great distance, and Zelda eventually found her in a Rift in Suthorn Forest.[40] Tri states that the Still World connects differently than Hyrule, and they believe that people who are currently missing might be in large Rifts they heard about from the other Tris.[41]

By floating into the sky, Tri is able to identify two oversized Rifts for them to investigate.[42] When Zelda reveals her intentions to continue mending Rifts, Minister Lefte attempts to bar her from doing so.[43] However, Lueburry is able to convince her that Zelda must play her part during this time of crisis.[44] Instead, he offers to continue investigating Rifts with Lefte so they can support Zelda's efforts, which she agrees to.[45] Lefte then reveals that the Rifts that Tri marked on Zelda's Map are located in the Gerudo Desert and Jabul Waters, and she offers her any information that she needs.[46] Lefte leaves the task of rescuing the King of Hyrule, General Wright, and Link to Zelda.[47]

During the Main Quest "Searching for Everyone", Princess Zelda is able to ask Minister Lefte about the Gerudo Desert and Jabul Waters.[48][49] If Zelda asks about Jabul Waters, Lefte reveals that it is an area inhabited by the River Zora, the Sea Zora, and a small Hylian population, the latter of whom may be able to provide further information.[50] If Zelda asks about the Gerudo Desert, she explains that it is populated by the Gerudo, a group of warriors comprised entirely of women, and she suggests speaking to Gerudo Soldiers on patrol.[51] Alternatively, if Zelda decides to speak with Lefte, she expresses her concerns about the King of Hyrule, General Wright, and Link, and she hopes that they will be found soon.[52]

After Princess Zelda saves General Wright from the Rift at Jabul Waters, he joins Minister Lefte and Lueburry at Lueburry's House. If Zelda speaks to Lefte, she claims that she is comforted to have General Wright back, although she is still worried about the King of Hyrule.[53] She also shares her concerns that something bad is going to happen soon, and she believes it is best to find the King as quickly as possible.[54]

Nomenclature

Minister Lefte's name is based on her standing to the King of Hyrule's left, similarly to General Wright. Her Japanese name "Sadari" likely comes from the combination of "sa" and "hidari", the readings of the kanji "左",[55] which means "left".

  34. You're telling me we're the only ones who can see you? That's odd... — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)

  35. Yeah, yeah, sure. But back to the matter at hand: What is it that you and I have in common? We've both ended up in rifts and lived to tell the tale. It seems the rifts change people somehow... — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
  36. {{Cite|Oh, yeah! Guess I should introduce myself. The name's Lueburry. I'm Impa's older brother. And the swordsman who saved you is Link. I made his weapon: the Sword of Might.
Mr. Lueburry, why did you make him a sword? — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
  37. Princess, remember that big, nasty blue fella who captured you? The sword was for taking him out. See, I spend my time researching Hyrule's history and its rifts. For ages now, rifts have appeared, and sometimes folks have ended up in them. Those unfortunate enough to be pulled into a rift vanished without a trace... After which townsfolk would say they'd been stolen away. Anyhow, Link made it his mission to fight the monsters that come crawling out of the rifts. He also tried to prevent folks from going missing. And I've been helping as I'm able too. Which's why I made him a sword—one that's effective against the rift monsters. — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
  38. So Link was helping out with the rifts as well... — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  39. Clearly we're missing something. The rift in the forest is gone, but Link's not back. What we need is more information. — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
I may have something useful. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  40. When I was taken by the rift in Hyrule Castle, it felt like I was flown somewhere far away. The rift I was pulled into was at Hyrule Castle, but Princess Zelda found me in a rift in the forest. So how did I end up over there? — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  41. Rifts don't follow the same rules as your world. Things connect differently inside them. My friends had mentioned something about oversized rifts in other areas. We might end up finding the king and other missing people in far-off rifts. — Tri (Echoes of Wisdom)
  42. I think I found some. There's no saying where Zelda's father and the others might be. But I did spot some big rifts we can go explore. I've marked them on your map, Zelda. — Tri (Echoes of Wisdom)
  43. Princess Zelda, I must insist that you refrain from going to any more rifts! It's far too dangerous! — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  44. That's up to her to decide, Minister. I mean, she's the only one capable of mending the rifts. During this time of crisis in Hyrule, we all have to play our parts. Princess Zelda included. — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
You make a salient point, Mr. Lueburry... — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  45. Princess, I urge you to go with Tri to the other rifts. You're the only one who can fix them and save all the people who've gone missing! Minister, you stay here and help me investigate the rifts. We'll play support for the princess. — Lueburry (Echoes of Wisdom)
Oh! Of course. Investigations are my specialty. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  46. Princess, the rifts marked by Tri are located in the Gerudo Desert and Jabul Waters. Please let me know if you require further information. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  47. All right, Princess. I leave it to you to find the king, General Wright, and Link. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  48. I'll be here helping Mr. Lueburry investigate the rifts so we can better support you. Princess, how can I help? — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  49. [Tell me about the rifts.] Right now, there are large rifts in Jabul Waters and the Gerudo Desert. I'm happy to share anything I know about those areas. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  50. [Jabul Waters?] Jabul Waters is northeast of here. It's home to the Zora, who are remarkable swimmers. The residents are divided into the Sea Zora and River Zora. On the coast, soon after entering Jabul Waters, there is a small Hylian fishing village. I'm sure the villagers there will have interesting morsels to share with you about the local area. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  51. [Gerudo Desert?] Gerudo Desert is west of us. It's a harsh land with high temperatures and sandstorms. Skilled warriors known as the Gerudo live in a town far into the desert. Oh, yes! I almost forgot to mention: they're all women. Not a man among them. They're often on patrol near the desert entrance, so you may want to talk to them there. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  52. [Let's talk.] I keep thinking about His Majesty, the general, and Link... I hope that by mending the rifts, they'll be returned to us. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  53. [Let's talk.] Welcome back, Princess! I heard you saved General Wright! He's always so high energy... Though right now, his boisterousness brings me comfort. I can't stop thinking about the king... I hope he is safe. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
  54. Things feel so tense in Hyrule, so I keep expecting something troubling to happen. We must find the king—and soon. Time is of the essence. — Minister Lefte (Echoes of Wisdom)
