The Mirro Shaz Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Tempered Power,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Shrine is located at Pico Pond in Eldin Canyon. It is unguarded and sits in plain sight north of the pond. As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Mirro Shaz, who introduces the Trial.[2]

Themes and Navigation

There are three parts to Mirro Shaz Shrine's Trial. The first two parts must be completed to finish, while the third optional part rewards a treasure.

The first part of the Trial consists of a Treasure Chest containing an Iron Sledgehammer, an Ancient Orb, and a Crystal. Using the Iron Sledgehammer, Link must line up directly behind the Ancient Orb, facing toward the Concave Slot in the water. Using Stasis on the Orb allows Link to hit it five times with the Iron Sledgehammer, which launches it towards the Concave Slot. Hitting the Orb too few or too many times will cause it to be launched either short or far of the goal, landing in the Water. If performed correctly, the Ancient Orb will land in the Concave Slot, unlocking the second part of the trial. The Crystal resets the Ancient Orb if the goal is missed.

In the second part of the Trial, Link will find a stone block on a rail, at the end of which is a stone slab. Link can use Stasis on the stone block and hit it straight up toward the stone slab. This will change the orientation of the slab, turning it into a ramp and allowing Link to access the Monk's Pedestal.

Upon approaching Mirro Shaz, the Monk grants Link a Spirit Orb for completing the Trial.[3] After this, Mirro Shaz wishes Link well before fading away.[4]

To the left of the Monk's Pedestal, there is a path that leads down to the third and final optional part of the Trial. The third part of the Trial has a similar set up to the first, with a Treasure Chest containing an Iron Sledgehammer, an Ancient Orb, and a Crystal. Another Treasure Chest is stuck behind a portcullis.

Link can apply the same tactics to hit the Ancient Orb into the Concave Slot. However, this time the Orb must be hit exactly five times with the Iron Sledgehammer and once with a smaller Weapon. When this is performed correctly, the Concave Slot will activate and raise the portcullis, allowing Link access to the final Treasure Chest. Inside, Link can obtain a Giant Ancient Core.
