Monk's Pedestals are Objects in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Location and Uses

Monk's Pedestals are located at the end of Ancient Shrines, serving as the goals. They are square platforms that are encased in a blue energy. Inside, they contain the Sheikah Monks that created the Shrines they reside in.

When Link touches the Crest of the Sheikah on a Monk's Pedestal, the blue energy surrounding it will shatter. The Monk within will then speak to him, commending Link for being able to complete the Ancient Shrine.[2][3][4][5] The Monk will then grant Link a Spirit Orb as a reward.[6][7] They will then wish Link well and fade away.[8] Afterwards, Link will find himself outside of the Shrine. When Ancient Shrines that have previously been completed are revisited, the blue energy and Monk of their Monk's Pedestals will remain absent. However, interacting with these Pedestals will still transport Link outside of the Ancient Shrine.[9]

16 additional Ancient Shrines are available as part of The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack. At the end of these Shrines, their Monks will gift Link either a Spirit Orb as normal, Naboris's Emblem, Rudania's Emblem, Ruta's Emblem, or Medoh's Emblem, depending on which Main Quest the Shrine is associated with.[10][11][12][13] At the end of the Final Trial, Link will approach Monk Maz Koshia's Monk's Pedestal, where he reveals that a battle against him will be his final task.[14] He will then Warp Link away.

Trivia

  • Monk's Pedestals bear several examples of Sheikah text. The tile in front of the Pedestals reads "Goal."[15] In addition to this, their roofs bear the words "Goal Point," which repeats around their sides.[16]
