The Mother and Child Isles,[1] also formatted as the Mother & Child Isles,[2] are a pair of islands situated next to each other in the Great Sea in The Wind Waker.

Features and Overview

Descriptions
They say that inside the ring of rock that makes up the perimeter of that island, there lives an incredibly beautiful fairy! But the thing is, nobody's ever met her.

Supposedly, the only way you'll ever meet her is to take a ride on a whirlwind and drop inside that rock perimeter from the sky above. Doesn't sound easy, fry...

Northwest of there is the Forsaken Fortress.

Because of the ocean currents, the waves around there are very high.

As people stopped going around that place, monsters began to settle in instead.

Do I know everything, or what?

The Mother Island is actually a Fairy Fountain which serves as the home of the Queen of the Fairies. However, it is surrounded by a high rock wall, so the only way for Link to access it is to use the Ballad of Gales, which is learned from Cyclos. This will Warp him inside the Mother Island. Once Link rescues his sister Aryll from the Forsaken Fortress, he can enter the Mother Island to receive the Fire and Ice Arrows from the Queen of the Fairies. The Queen of the Fairies will not appear before Link until after he rescues Aryll.

On the Child Island, which can be easily accessed by boat, Link meets a Wandering Merchant. A Blue ChuChu, and Rown, one of the Korok inhabitants of Forest Haven, can also be found here.

Enemies
