Nellie is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Nellie is an elderly Gerudo woman who resides in Gerudo Town. She resides in the House across from the Gerudo Secret Club with her granddaughter, Risa. While she is awake, she frequents the Stalls in the center of Town. If Link speaks to Nellie, she finds it interesting to see a "Hylian vai" and greets him.[6]
At 11:00 PM, Nellie can be found in front of Lorn's Fruit Stand. When spoken to, she recounts that her grandmother often told her never to eat Hearty Durians while drinking.[2] While she does not know the reason why, she believes there must be a good reason due to how often her grandmother repeated it.[7] At 5:00 AM, she leaves to look for a drink and snacks.[8]
After visiting Lorn's Fruit Stand, she oserves Ardin's General Store, which sells Mushrooms. If Link speaks to her, she says that her mother taught her that Food made from Mushrooms help relieve strong headaches.[3] For that reason, Nellie always makes Fragrant Mushroom Sauté for herself whenever she is tired.[9] She then explains how to make the dish by Cooking Goron Spice with any Mushroom.[10]
When Ardin's entire stock is sold out, Nellie is initially hesitant to believe that she is selling Mushrooms that only beatiful people can see.[11] If Link claims he can see them, Nellie admits that she thought Ardin was lying so her customers would not know she was out of stock.[12] While she does not care if she can see them or not, she believes she would have been able to see them when she was younger.[13] If Link admits he cannot see them, Nellie reasons that if someone as beautiful as him is unable to, then Ardin must be lying.[14]
At 10:00 AM, Nellie leaves the market to sleep in her Bed, as she wants to avoid the Heat of the day.[15] If Link speaks to Nellie while she is sleeping in her home, she irritably asks what he wants and says that she prefers to sleep until night falls.[16] After Nellie wakes up at 5:00 PM, she wonders how people tolerate the Heat, as she likes the night more, before deciding to wake herself up with a drink.[17] She then goes to The Noble Canteen, where she remarks that drinking is the only way she can wake up.[18] She stays there until 11:00 PM, before leaving for Lorn's Fruit Stand.
