The Northwestern Sea is a location in Phantom Hourglass.[1]

Features and Overview

The Northwestern Sea is a quadrant in the World of the Ocean King located in the northwest. The Northwestern Sea is initially cursed with a thick fog generated by the Ghost Ship that causes all Ships to become lost.[2] It can only be accessed by navigating a specific route through the western side of the Southwestern Sea. After pursuing the Ghost Ship through the fog and losing their way, Linebeck suggests that someone from a nearby Island in the Southwestern Sea might know the route.[2] The safe route through the fog can be found in the Old Wayfarer's cave on Molida Island.

The Northwestern Sea contains the Isle of Gust, Bannan Island, the Uncharted Island, and Zauz's Island. After rescuing all three Fairies, Link is able to pursue and board the Ghost Ship to find Tetra's petrified body.

Beedle's Shop Ship can occasionally be found wandering the waters of the Northwestern Sea, though it will eventually leave for another quadrant of the World of the Ocean King. After obtaining the Cyclone Slate, Link can speak to a Golden Frog between Bannan Island and the Isle of Gust to learn the corresponding symbols that allow him to Warp to this location.[3]

Once she has been encountered in the Southwestern Sea, the SS Linebeck has a chance of running into her in all quadrants of the World of the Ocean King, including the Northwestern Sea. While Zauz is forging the Sword Blade, Link will receive a letter from Jolene challenging him to a duel.[4]
