Octo Balloon
Octo Balloons are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]
Location and Uses
Breath of the Wild
Octo Balloons are Monster Parts dropped by Octoroks. Link, while using a Cooking Pot, can cook Octo Balloons with critters such as Lizards, Frogs, Insects or Fairies to make Elixirs. They can also be purchased for 20 Rupees from Beedle at the Dueling Peaks Stable and Highland Stable or in Lurelin Village at the Merchant Boat. They can be sold to merchants or exchanged at the Fang and Bone for one Mon apiece. Octo Balloons can also be used as an ingredient for Purple Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop.
Octo Balloons can be dropped and used to lift Objects such as a Barrels or stone slabs.[1] They can thus be used to solve simple puzzles or lift non-metallic Objects. Sky Octoroks use this property to lift wooden platforms, creating aerial fortresses for other Enemies.
During the "Balloon Flight" Side Quest, a young girl named Shamae living at the Woodland Stable requires Link to use at least two Octo Balloons to lift a Barrel into the sky.[4] If Link is able to do this for her, she will give him a Star Fragment as a reward.[5]
