Onya
Onya is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Onya is a Hylian resident of Serenne Stable. He and his brothers, Akrah and Garshon, debate the extinction of the Leviathans with each other.[6][7] Onya believes that they went extinct because of an ice age.[8]
When Link approaches the brothers, Akrah states that while they know where Leviathan Bones are located, they have been unable to access them to prove their theories.[9] Noticing that Link appears to be an adventurer, Akrah asks him to retrieve Pictures of the Leviathan Bones on their behalf.[10] As a reward, he promises Link 300 Rupees.[11] If Link agrees, the "Leviathan Bones" Side Quest will begin.
Onya wishes to see a Picture of the Hebra Great Skeleton, which is located within a cave in the Hebra Mountains.[12] If Link promises him that he will do his best, he reasons that Link would not survive such a journey.[13] When Link brings Onya a Picture of the Hebra Great Skeleton, Onya will be shocked by the quality of the image.[14] He claims that it is the proof needed to show that the Leviathans went extinct during an ice age.[15]
If Onya is the final brother Link shows a Picture to, he will be amazed that he was able to bring them Pictures of all three sets of Leviathan Bones.[16] He then gives Link a Gold Rupee as a reward.[17] Afterwards, he says that he will continue to analyze the Picture that Link gave him in order to research his theory.[18]
Following the Side Quest, Onya will continue to debate the Leviathans' extinction with his brothers. He states that Link's Picture has given him confidence in his ice age theory.[19] At night, he shivers in his sleep.[20] During Rain, Onya and his brothers will move inside the Stable. He says that he finds joy in discussing the extinction, but he quietly wonders when Akrah will leave.[21]
Tears of the Kingdom
Onya and his brother Akrah now reside at New Serenne Stable, where they argue about what goals to pursue next.[22] He wants to find a legendary weapon, and he thinks that the rumored beast is just a story.[23][24]
Nomenclature
Onya is derived from Onion.

Criminy, my older brother can be so stubborn! While we're here arguing, someone else may go out and find the legendary weapon! I have to win him over somehow.

I would like to lie down in my bed, but my older brothers... They'll keep bickering all night long! Annoying me in my sleep! So ridiculous. I don't care if we look for that rumored beast or the legendary weapon. Can't they just hurry up and choose where we're going next?

Why did the leviathans go extinct? That is the question we scientists are trying to answer.

My theory is that the leviathans of ancient times went extinct due to an extended ice age...

However, we haven't yet located any leviathan remains, so we're stuck with theories for the time being. But we do have a general idea of where such remains might be found... The Eldin Mountains in the northeast, the Hebra region in the northwest, and the Gerudo region in the southwest.

You've got the look of someone who's done a fair bit of adventuring. Would you be willing to find these leviathan bones and draw a picture of them? What I especially want to see is the head of the animal. If you can get just a bit of it in the picture, that'd be adequate.

Do this for me, and I'll give you 300 rupees as a reward.

I'd really like to see the leviathan skeleton in the Hebra region...

[I'll do my best.] Yeah, you probably wouldn't survive the journey anyway. But I'll be here if you change your mind.

[I've got it right here.] Amazing! It's as if I'm seeing the real thing!

This is precisely the evidence I needed to prove that the leviathans went extinct due to a harsh ice age!
— Onya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
WOW! You got pictures of all three leviathan skeletons! I can't thank you enough!

Please. Take your reward.

I'll continue to research my ice-age extinction hypothesis while analyzing the picture you provided.

Thanks to your picture, I am confident in my theory that the leviathans went extinct due to a harsh ice age!

On days like this, I find joy in debating the cause of the leviathans' extinction. Still, I wonder when Akrah plans to leave...

My olders brothers have been arguing incessantly about where to go next.

A "legendary weapon," on the other hand, is bound to be strong indeed. We would have nothing to fear of monsters.

But that rumored beast you're after, that's just a story!
