Breath of the Wild
Pedestals are pieces of Ancient Technology found in the overworld of Hyrule. They are used as part of Shrine Quests to reveal Ancient Shrines that have been buried beneath the ground. This is done by performing certain actions on top of the Pedestal. Some Pedestals also feature a Concave Slot, into which an Ancient Orb must be inserted.

A total of six Pedestals can be found in Echoes of Wisdom, all of which are located in the Eternal Forest. During the Main Quest "The Prime Energy and Null", Princess Zelda reads an inscription on a Stone Monument that instructs her to "crown" these Pedestals.[2] When she places an Ancient Orb or its Echo on top of one of the Pedestals, both will begin to glow. This also causes a corresponding circle marked on the Monument to glow as well.
Trivia
- In Breath of the Wild, Pedestals contain two examples of Sheikah text. The first can be found on their outer edge, reading as "Stone Sphere Socket."[3] The second is found only on the interior of Pedestals with Concave Slots, reading as "Socket."[4]
