Powerful Enemies,(AoIAge of Imprisonment)[1] also known as Strong Enemies,(HWHyrule Warriors | HWLHyrule Warriors Legends | HWDEHyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition)[2] and Powerful Foes,(AoCAge of Calamity)[3] are recurring types of Enemies in the Hyrule Warriors series. They are conceptually similar to, and often include, Captains.

Strong Enemies are powerful opponents who are denoted on the Mini Map with unique Enemy Icons. The basic tier of Strong Enemy is denoted with a black outline, while a more powerful tier is indicated with a double black outline. Enemy Commanders are a unique type of Strong Enemy that are indicated with a Red Flag Icon.

Age of Calamity

The following section is not part of the Zelda canon and should not be taken as such.


Powerful Foes are strong Enemies that stand out from their peers. Most Powerful Foes can be Targeted, including rival Warriors. Typically, Powerful Foes are accompanied by an entourage of other related Enemies. For instance, Moblins may be followed by Bokoblins.

Age of Imprisonment

As in Age of Calamity, Powerful Foes are a special class of Enemies found in Battle. They can be Targeted and utilize Special Attacks. As a consequence of performing their Special Attacks, their Weak-Point Gauge will be exposed, creating an opportunity for counterattack.
