Biography
Tears of the Kingdom
Raphica was a leader to the Rito of Hyrule during the Era of Foundation.[8] After Demon King Ganondorf began his attack, Raphica was summoned to the Forgotten Temple alongside Qia, Agraston, and Ardi by the King of Hyrule, Rauru. He granted each of them a Secret Stone and made them one of the Six Sages.[9][10] Raphica's turned into a Secret Stone of Wind, and he became the Sage of Wind. Together, the Six Sages swore a vow of loyalty to Rauru.[11]

During the Imprisoning War, Raphica can be seen wielding a Great Eagle Bow. However, his strength was not enough to stand against Demon King Ganondorf, who soundly deflected all of Raphica's attacks.[1] In order to distract Ganondorf, Raphica, Qia, Agraston, and Ardi throw their Weapons toward him, which Zelda reversed using Recall. Raphica and the rest of the Sages then witnessed Rauru sacrificing himself to seal the Demon King.[1]
After the end of the Imprisoning War, the Sage of Time, Zelda, met with Raphica at the Wind Temple.[12] She warned him of Demon Ganondorf's inevitable return, and she asked for help from the Rito to defeat the Demon King when Rauru's seal is broken in the distant future.[13][14] Raphica accepted her request, and he promised that a Sage of Wind from the Rito will awaken to fight alongside Link when the time comes.[15]
Throughout the Main Quest "Tulin of Rito Village", Tulin, Raphica's descendant, and Link hear the voice of Raphica beckoning them to meet him at the Wind Temple.[16][17] After they defeat Colgera, Raphica's Secret Stone is revealed. When Tulin interacts with it, Raphica's Spirit appears before them, and he introduces himself as Tulin's ancestor.[5] He reveals that he served Rauru as the Sage of Wind, as well as that Colgera was sent to prevent Tulin from awakening as a Sage.[18] When Tulin expresses confusion, Raphica proceeds to relay the history of the Imprisoning War to him.[19] Afterwards, he warns that although Rito Village has been saved, the rest of Hyrule is still in danger. As a result, he asks Tulin to honor the promise he made to Zelda and become the new Sage of Wind.[20] Raphica then disappears.
Other Appearances
Age of Imprisonment
Raphica is the chief of the Rito who is fiercely loyal to his allies. He is a witty Warrior, although he can be seen as aloof by others.[7] He is recruited alongside Vence as part of the Scenario "Shadows in the Snow".
Trivia
- In Tears of the Kingdom, Raphica has a near-fully modeled face under his Divine Helm, missing only his eyes. This differs from his appearance in Age of Imprisonment, but it was not intended to be seen and is not visible during regular gameplay.
Nomenclature
Raphica's name is derived from the specific name of Archaeopteryx lithographica, an avialan species of dinosaur that is one of the oldest known ancestors of avian dinosaurs (i.e. birds), and it is believed to be the first capable of flight. Additionally, lithographica is transcribed into Japanese as リトグラフィカ (ritogurafika), having "Rito" before the part Raphica's name is derived from. His name follows the same pattern as his fellow Sages Agraston, Qia, and Ardi being named for the earliest known specimens or ancestors of what their tribe is based on.

Years ago, when the kingdom of Hyrule was still young... A great evil, the Demon King, descended on the land. He sought to wipe out anyone who opposed him. But Rauru—the first king of Hyrule—requested my aid, as well as that of five other warriors. To help in the fight, Rauru entrusted us with amazing artifacts. Secret stones...objects that amplified our formidable abilities. I carried one into battle as the Sage of Wind. It was thrilling to fight alongside my fellow sages... Yet we were still no match for the Demon King's overwhelming power. His magic was staggering, and I was unable to slip past his defenses, no matter how hard I tried. In the end, King Rauru realized that we would not be able to defeat the Demon King. To save our world, King Rauru sacrificed himself and sealed the Demon King away.

It's a good thing I brought Lord Raphica those materials, as I'm not certain he would have come home safely without them. The training must have been worth it as well, as his fellow soldiers are all raving about how much stronger he's grown.

Rauru. The Demon King... He is not someone you can stop by yourself. But...you are not alone. You have the Gerudo, Goron, Zora, and Rito leaders, as well as Zelda... And of course...you can count on me.

Backed into a corner by the attacks in all parts of Hyrule, leaders facing the Demon King's forces gather at Rauru's call. He gives each a Zonai secret stone, making them sages with powers amplified by the stones. All of the sages raise their voices as one, pledging to fight with King Rauru to the end.

The rest of us survived that climactic battle, and I would soon receive a visitor with a request that would define the future of the Rito. It was another of the six sages—the Sage of Time.

The Demon King will return. The magic binding him will be undone. When that time comes, a noble swordsman named Link will oppose him. But Link will only succeed with the Rito's help. Summon the winds, and support this hero!

I proudly served Hyrule's first king. I was a Rito warrior and a sage with control of the wind. Where you fight, the winds follow... I would expect nothing less from my descendant. You make me proud. That monster you defeated, the source of that intense blizzard... It was summoned by the Demon King. He thought it could stop you from obtaining the stone you just found—my secret stone.

Demon King? Secret stone?
— Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)This is a lot to learn all of a sudden, I know. But listen while I tell you what happened in the past. A tale of the Imprisoning War and the mission our people must accomplish!

And now you know about the Imprisoning War and a mission I accepted on our behalf. You've saved Rito Village, but there's more to do. The Demon King will soon recover his full strength. Tulin, my brave fledgling... You must take up my secret stone and honor the Sage of Time's request. Fight the Demon King with the swordsman Link.
