The Research Division is a group in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Biography

The Research Division is a sect of the Yiga Clan consisting of two Yiga Footsoldiers found in the Yiga Clan Hideout. To be part of the Division, Yiga must have skills in both crafting and naming.[1] Their task is to research Zonai Devices and develop them into machinery.[1] One member is responsible for creating the Gloomdredger, while the other creates the HOVERDOOM MK.3.[2][3] Link can purchase their vehicles from them for 999 Rupees and 99 Rupees, respectively.[4][5] After Link completes the Side Adventure "The Yiga Clan Exam" and becomes a Yiga Blademaster, the Footsoldiers will begin to offer a discount. The Gloomdreder will cost 500 Rupees, and the HOVERDOOM MK.3 will cost 50 Rupees.[6][7]

  3. Huh? You're interested in this raging roadster? My fiendish, armor-clad masterwork?! The Gloomdredger?! — Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
  4. If you really won't take no for an answer, I could sell you one for 999 rupees... But if word gets around that I sold one to some random Yiga member, it'll be "so long, reputation" for me. OK if we do the handover outside? — Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
  5. How about it? You've a dash of recklessness yourself, so I'll sell you one brand-new for 99 rupees. Just don't let it slip that I sold one to some rank-and-file Yiga member, OK? That'd lead to some awkward conversations. You good if we do the handover outside? — Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
  6. If you really won't take no for an answer, I could sell you one for 999 rupees... Huh... You're a blademaster, aren't you? For you, I'll let it go for a much cheaper 500 rupees. Just as long as you tell me your thoughts on how to improve this vicious vehicle. Oh, and don't tell anybody you got it from me. It'd be bad for me if this got out. You OK if we do the handover outside? — Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
  7. So, how about it? You've a dash of recklessness yourself, so I'll sell you one brand-new for 99 rupees. Hold on...you're a blademaster. OK... Yeah. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Help me out, and I'll give you a HOVERDOOM MK.3 for 50 rupees. But let's keep it between us, huh? If people hear I'm just letting these go, it wouldn't be good for me. You good if we do the handover outside? — Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
