The Royal Guard's Series are Items in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Location and Uses

The Royal Guard's Series is a set of equipment made for the Royal Guards, and can be found at Hyrule Castle. The Series is built similarly to the Royal Gear, but instead features hints of Sheikah design with black metals and highlights of deep red. It has the highest attack power of all the equipment used by the Soldiers of Hyrule Kingdom.[2]

The Royal Guard's Series was designed and forged by the Sheikah with Ancient Technology in preparation of the foretold second Great Calamity.[3][4][5][6][7] The Items attempted to emulate the power of the Master Sword, resulting in the high power that each item in the Series boasts.[3] However, flaws in the designs of these Weapons left the Royal Guard's Series faulted with low durability, which makes them impractical for serious combat.[3][4][5][6][7]

Within Hyrule Castle are two of every Item in the Royal Guard's Series, which reappear after each Blood Moon. Surrounding Hyrule Castle is one of each Item inside Treasure Chests, but they do not respawn.

Parcy, a Hylian traveler who resides at the Riverside Stable, often snuck her way into Hyrule Castle in search of the Royal Guard's Series.[8] However, she was unable to find any of the Items in the Series.[9] If Link speaks to her, she will task him with "The Royal Guard's Gear" Side Quest.[10] As part of this Quest, Link is asked to infiltrate Hyrule Castle and retrieve any item within the Royal Guard's Series to show to Parcy. If Link succeeds, she will reward him with a Gold Rupee, completing the Side Quest.[11][12][13] At any point after this, Link can trade one of these Items with Parcy in exchange for a Gem.[14][15][16][17]

All pieces of the Royal Guard's Series is constructed with metal, which means that they will conduct Electricity and attract Lightning during Thunderstorms. They will sink if they are dropped in Water, but they can be picked up and manipulated with the Magnesis Rune. Finally, the Royal Guard's Series will not burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate.
