Ruto Lake is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

Ruto Lake is located in the Lanayru Great Spring, directly to the northwest of Ruto Mountain and Ruto Precipice. Five small islands can be found within the Lake. It is the source of Water for the Zora River to the southwest, and it is covered by both Luto's Crossing and the Great Zora Bridge, the latter of which leads into Zora's Domain. Before Divine Beast Vah Ruta is calmed, its Rain will constantly fall over Ruto Lake.[3]

During the "Reach Zora's Domain" Main Quest, Sidon will call out to Link from Ruto Lake as he passes through Luto's Crossing.[4] Knowing Link would pass by, Sidon reveals that he has been waiting for him.[5] He then decides to go on ahead and meet Link in Zora's Domain, since they are close already.[6] However, a Moblin approaches Link from behind, which Sidon warns him of.[7]

As part of the "Zora Stone Monuments" Side Quest, Link must inspect the Stone Monument on Ruto Lake's western coast.[8][9] It is the History of the Zora, Part Three, which tells the Zora legend of the white scale.[10]

A total of four Treasure Chests are located within Ruto Lake. They are all made of metal, and three of them need to be lifted from beneath the Water using the Magnesis Rune. The first Chest can be found on a ledge below the Great Zora Bridge, containing an Amber. The second is submerged underwater west of the Stone Monument, and it contains a Silver Rupee. The third Treasure Chest, located in the middle of the Lake, has a Phrenic Bow inside. Lastly, the final Chest contains a bundle of five Ice Arrows.

One Korok Seed Puzzle can be found on Ruto Lake. It takes a form of a Rock Pattern on the southernmost island. When Link replaces the missing Rock, a Korok will appear and give him a Korok Seed.[11]
