Location and Uses

Link's Awakening

The Scale is the thirteenth item in Link's Awakening's Trading Quest.[2] It is obtained from Martha the Mermaid, who promises Link one of her Scales from her tail in return of her missing Necklace.[1] The Scale is pivotal to complete "The Mourning Mermaid", an unfinished Statue that Schule Donavitch sculpted in Martha's Bay.[4][5] After placing the Scale onto the statue, it will move aside and reveal a cave where Link finds the final item in the Trading Sequence, the Magnifying Lens.[6]

Breath of the Wild

Tears of the Kingdom

Scales are Dragon Parts that fall from Dinraal, Farosh, the Light Dragon, and Naydra after their bodies or manes are struck. Imbued with elemental power in the case of Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra's Scales and healing power for the Light Dragon Scales, they impart their power onto Weapons they are fused to, causing them to use Fire, Electricity and Ice for the elemental Dragons and to heal Link when he strikes an Enemy or Object for the Light Dragon. Arrows with the Scales of the elemental Dragons attached create large explosions of Fire, Electricity, and cold air respectively on impacting something.
