The Scorching Zone comprises Floors B11 to B15 of the Den of Trials, and it is based on the scenery and Enemies of the Volcano Area of the Drablands. It is initially unlocked and accessed by completing the prior Flooded Zone; if all three Links have already unlocked the Scorching Zone, they can access it directly by standing on the third Triforce Gateway in the Den's hub Level.
Each Floor of the Scorching Zone is a Lava-filled octagonal platform with no walls around its edges, and patches of stone ground in the south corner where the Links appear, in the north corner where the Triforce Gateway appears when all Enemies are defeated, as well as in the east and west corners. On Floor B11, most of the center of the Floor is covered with a grated metal platform, save for four narrow sections along the diagonal edges where the Links can fall into the Lava. Before the Enemies appear, the Links are provided with a Magic Hammer, a Gust Jar, and a Gripshot. All of the Enemies on this Floor start out ablaze, and must be stunned with the Gripshot or have their flames put out with the Gust Jar before they are safe for the Links to attack. Wearing the Goron Garb also protects a Links from taking damage from fire.
Floor B12 is missing the grated platform from Floor B11, and is instead filled with Lava Rocks that sink into the Lava under the Links' weight. A Beamos on a pedestal in the center of the Floor requires a Totem of two Links to strike, while the Fire Keeleons are at a height of three Links. Floors B13 and B14 both feature the grated platform from Floor B11. In addition to the variety of Enemies on Floor B13, Volcanic Rocks continually fall from above. Floor B14 has two waves of "dark" Enemies, as well as four spots around the grated platform (denoted by red tiles) where Lava Geysers will blast upward from below.
Floor B15 is a safe room with three large Treasure Chests and a Squiddy for regaining Hearts. Two of the Chests contain the same random, bronze-rarity Material from the Volcano (Goron Ores, Monster Guts or Demon Fossils) and the other contains a random, silver-rarity Material (Rugged Horn, Kodongo Tail or Keese Wing). Once the Chests are opened, the Links' progress is Saved; the Triforce Gateway leading to the Frozen Zone and a small Treasure Chest containing an extra Fairy then appear.
