Link finds the Sea Chart while searching for treasure in the Temple of the Ocean King.[3] Oshus tells Link that the Chart marks the temples where the monsters lurk.[7] Ciela says it will guide them on their journey.[8] Linebeck studies the Sea Chart while Link and Ciela do chores on his ship. He cannot read it and does not see the temples Oshus spoke about.[9] Link rubs the paper to clean it and discovers a symbol.[10] Linebeck snatches the Sea Chart away and says he was just about to try that.[11] After visiting the Isle of Ember, Link points to the Sea Chart and says the fortune-teller told them a clue to the Ghost Ship was in the northwestern sea.[12] When a young girl is taken by Crayk, Link locates the Isle of Gust and Molida Island on the Sea Chart and waves it angrily at Linebeck when he refuses to help.[13]
Sea Chart
Sea Charts,(TWWThe Wind Waker | PHPhantom Hourglass | PH (Himekawa)Phantom Hourglass (Himekawa))[1][2][3] also known as Sea Maps,(HWLHyrule Warriors Legends)[name references needed] are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.
Location and Uses
The Wind Waker
The Sea Chart in the The Wind Waker is split up into 49 sectors in 7-by-7 grid. It can be viewed at any time by pressing Up on the +Control Pad. When Link receives the Chart from the King of Red Lions before setting out from Windfall Island for the first time, it has only Windfall, Outset Island and the Forsaken Fortress mapped on it. After completing Dragon Roost Cavern, they begin to encounter Fishmen at sea, who will offer to fill in their respective sectors of the Chart, as well as reveal select information related to them, in exchange for a feeding of All-Purpose Bait.
The Sea Chart is updated further as Link advances in his quest, such as by marking the locations of Sunken Treasure that have been salvaged, marking with the Koroks have planted their Forest Trees, and showing the whereabouts of the Ghost Ship. To better aid Link, the King of Red Lions will also mark the Chart with the location of his current objective.[1]
Phantom Hourglass
In Phantom Hourglass, the World of the Ocean King is divided into four quadrants, each with its own Sea Chart to be found in the Temple of the Ocean King. The first Chart found is simply called the "Sea Chart",[2] while the others are named after their respective quadrants.[4] When found, a Sea Chart shows the locations of most of its quadrant's islands, though some islands are uncharted and will only appear once Link discovers them at sea. The Chart will also display the locations of any Golden Frogs that Link encounters, as well as Sunken Treasures for which Link owns a Treasure Map but has not yet salvaged. Possessing a Sea Chart is a requirement for exploring that quadrant.
The Sea Chart can be viewed by tapping the "Menu" icon, then the "Sea Chart" icon. This interface works similarly to the Map, where the player can write notes on it using the stylus, except instead of showing Link's current location, any known island or sea quadrant can be selected. While aboard the SS Linebeck, tapping the "Route" icon brings up the Sea Chart, which is used to navigate the World of the Ocean King by drawing the ship's desired trajectory on it.
Near the beginning of Link's adventure, the young hero recovers the first Sea Chart, which covers the Southwestern Sea, from the first floor of the Temple of the Ocean King. Linebeck, who had implored Link to find the Chart whilst he feigned an injured ankle, then runs off with the Chart, believing it to lead to treasure.[5] Link next encounters him at the Docks of Mercay Village, arguing with Oshus, who entrusts Link with discovering its secret that Linebeck missed.[6] By viewing the Sea Chart and swiping the stylus over the Isle of Ember, the map will scratch away, revealing the Crest of Din and their next destination.
