The Skull Engine is an Item in Spirit Tracks.[1]
Location and Uses
The Skull Engine is a Train Car that can be purchased from Linebeck Trading Company at a cost of four Stalfos Skulls, three Bee Larvae and two Ruto Crowns. It has the appearance of a large, red skull with a spinning drill protruding from its forehead, which is merely decorative. Its description reads "Created by a gearhead, it's unclear whether it can even go underground."
Outfitting the Spirit Train with the Skull Engine increases its durability to five Hearts. When used alongside the three other Train Cars in the Skull Train set, the Spirit Train's durability is increased to six Hearts. Using the Skull Engine also changes the Train Whistle's sound to resemble an electric guitar; it can be played in a minor pentatonic scale by pulling the Train Whistle's rope to different lengths.

- When exiting a Dungeon, the Skull Engine will randomly play one of three short tunes with its Train Whistle:[2]
