Sliding Picture Puzzle
The Sliding Picture Puzzle is a Minigame in The Wind Waker.[1]
Overview
The Sliding Picture Puzzle is found inside the Cabana at the Private Oasis, which requires the Cabana Deed to enter. Once Link is inside, he finds a large picture frame on the right-hand wall with a jumbled image. The Minigame begins when Link checks this picture frame and tells the Butler that he would like to play "the amusements of nobility."[2]
The Minigame works like a real-life Sliding puzzle. One of 16 paintings of a character from The Wind Waker is cut into pieces on a 4×4 grid; the top-right piece is removed, and the rest are shuffled. Link must restore the painting to its original state by sliding the pieces around one-by-one by pushing the control stick, as indicated by yellow arrows in the single empty space.[3] As each puzzle is shuffled randomly, they do not necessarily increase in difficulty. For reference, the original painting is shown in a picture frame on the opposite wall. Link can suspend the Minigame at any time by pressing the B button, however if he leaves the Cabana and returns, the pieces will be re-shuffled.
If Link manages to complete the puzzle, the missing top-right piece will automatically re-appear,[3] one of the 16 small lamps beside the picture frame will be lit up, and the young hero will be congratulated by the Butler, who then tosses a number of Rupees onto the floor.[4] For completing any of the first 15 puzzles, Link is awarded 25 Green Rupees and five Blue Rupees, for a total of 50 Rupees. For completing the final puzzle, he is awarded 10 Green Rupees, 14 Blue Rupees, three Yellow Rupees, two Red Rupees, and one Purple Rupee for a total of 200 Rupees. Therefore, completing all 16 puzzles nets 950 Rupees. Link must exit the Cabana briefly to allow the Butler to set up the next painting.[5] Once all puzzles are completed, they will restart back at the first one.

Please tilt up, down, left, or right to move the panels and try to arrange the picture. I will place the final panel in the top-right space to complete the painting.

Well done, Master... Well done, indeed! You are among the most talented gamesmiths of the noble classes! I offer you this as an expression of my respect and admiration of your skills. Please accept it!

I must apologize. It will take me just a moment to prepare the next picture. Please, if you could briefly wait outside...

I am sorry to have bothered you with such a trifling thing! Most terribly sorry! Ah! All of a sudden, I have become painfully aware of my existence as a door. Wah! Waaaaaah!
