"Slumbering Power" is the thirteenth Recovered Memory in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

"Slumbering Power" is unlocked at the Spring of Power, located within Deep Akkala. It is one of twelve Recovered Memories that Link views during the Main Quest "Captured Memories".[2]

During this Recovered Memory, Link stands with his back to Zelda, guarding her as she prays in the water of the spring. Zelda prays to the Spring of Power Statue, saying she comes seeking help regarding her sealing power.[3] She asserts that prayer will awaken her power, but her words turn sour as she states this is what she has been told her whole life.[4]

Zelda sighs. She claims that her grandmother heard voices from the spirit realm, and she recounts that her mother, the Queen of Hyrule, told her she would develop the power.[5] However, Zelda laments that she has yet to unlock her power.[6] She recounts how her father, King Rhoam, tells her to stop wasting time trying to be a scholar.[7]

With bitterness, Zelda curses Hylia, throwing her hands down in the water.[8] Despite spending every day of her life praying and pleading to ancient spirits, she has never received a sign from any holy powers.[9] As the memory ends, she asks Hylia to tell her what is wrong with her,[10] causing Link to turn back towards her.
