Location and Uses
Breath of the Wild
Hyrule Compendium Entry
Sneaky River Snails are found on the shores of bodies of water in West Necluda and the Lanayru Great Spring. They're easy to spot at night due to their glow.[1] They can be eaten raw to restore one Heart to Link's Life Gauge. Roasting one by a Fire will result in Sneaky River Escargot, but they can also be chilled by Ice to make Frozen River Snails. Meals made in a Cooking Pot using Sneaky River Snails will temporarily increase Link's Stealth.[1]
While Cooking, either a Sneaky River Snail, a Hearty Blueshell Snail, or any Fish is required to make Salt-Grilled Fish. To make a Seafood Skewer, either a snail, a Bright-Eyed Crab, an Ironshell Crab, or a Razorclaw Crab must be used. Sneaky River Snails also count as seafood when making Fish Pie, Creamy Seafood Soup, Copious Fish Skewers, Glazed Seafood, Gourmet Meat and Seafood Fry, Meat and Seafood Fry, Monster Stew, Pepper Seafood, Prime Meat and Seafood Fry, Seafood Meunière, Seafood Rice Balls, and Steamed Fish.
When upgrading the Stealth Set at a Great Fairy Fountain, five Sneaky River Snails and eight Silent Shrooms are needed for each individual piece to reach its third tier.

Hyrule Compendium Entry
Sneaky River Snails can be found near large bodies of fresh Water throughout Hyrule,[2] most commonly in Hyrule Ridge and Zora's Domain. They glow a bright green in Darkness and at night.[2] When Cooked into Foods, they grant Link Stealth Up, heightening his senses to make him move more silently.[2] When exposed to Fires or Scorching Climates, they become Sneaky River Escargots, whereas when exposed to Ice or Freezing Climates, they become Frozen River Snails.
Sneaky River Snails are required to upgrade the following pieces of Armor at a Great Fairy Fountain:
