The Sword-Fighting Tournament is an event in The Minish Cap.[2]

Overview

The Sword-Fighting Tournament occurs each year at Hyrule Castle during the Picori Festival.[1] The winner of the Tournament is allowed to touch the Picori Blade.[3]

During The Minish Cap, Vaati wins the Tournament in record time,[4] using the opportunity of the award ceremony to shatter the Picori Blade,[5] causing the evil it had sealed away in the Bound Chest to return and plague Hyrule.

Each of the Blade Brothers won the Sword-Fighting Tournament,[6] and the Tournament's only recorded stalemate was between King Daltus and Smith, who participated back in their youth.[7]

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version of The Minish Cap, the Sword-Fighting Tournament is simply called a "martial arts competition武術大会".[8] The term "martial arts" refers to a wide variety of armed and weaponless fighting styles around the world, including sword-fighting.
