Multiple Languages

I don't think we should have the English and Spanish articles on the same page. Could someone please create a template for es:Subject?

Doesn't really seem practical to have duplicate, foreign language articles here. Perhaps spanish speakers should use Wikipedia.es. --Adam 13:46, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

Seed quotes

Are these really necessary? Yes, it's interesting to note that they added different phrases for each of these items, but do we really need a breakdown of what each of the items causes him to say? Promoting removal of quotes. --Ando 19:40, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't know Ando-these facts are interesting-I think we should keep them SOMEWHERE on the Wiki, and it adds some detail to what is a VERY small page to begin with. ZeldaGirl96 01:37, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Perhaps. Is there any way we can make it look better, though? At the very least a splitting of this article into MM and OoA sections would be lovely. I'll see what I can do. —Ando (talk) 03:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm going to have to say no on that. It is short and does not take up much space. Besides, I spent twenty minutes trying to get him to take a Bombchu. Mostly because I ran out of Bombchu and had to get more, they are not cheap.Emma (Talk) 03:54, July 12, 2008 (UTC)

True Idenity

I tryed using the floating hack in MM to try and get under him and identify him. However, it is too dificult, I mean if you get too low you die, and if you go to high, you end up on the first floor. I guess we would have to find out the way we found out that the person from Super Mario Sunshine was a tanned Running Man. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 02:57, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm wondering if the origins of ??? might be the toilet ghost of Korean folklore. It appears as a hand sticking out of the toilet and asks if you prefer red or blue. (The answer determines how it kills you.) While Korea and Japan aren't on the friendliest of terms, I've seen cultural exchange between the two in media before, and this seems like just the sort of crazy story that the Zelda team would reference as a joke. ---Bodo, Sage of Obsession 23:28, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Phoeni

In Skyward Sword, this thing is female, and is named Phoeni.KrytenKoro 04:25, 4 December 2011 (EST)

Can you please cite your source? This sounds pretty "Phoeni" to me. — Abdul [T] [C] [S]  04:30, 4 December 2011 (EST)
Unfortunately, I have already completed the quest with Karane and Pipit, and can no longer go back and use Fi on the hand, but the Prima guide gives the name as Phoeni. This should be quick to confirm for anyone who chose the other path.KrytenKoro 04:38, 4 December 2011 (EST)
Does anyone have access to a non-PipitandKarane save file?KrytenKoro 19:09, 5 December 2011 (EST)
  • "This is the hand of a ghost. The ghost's original name is unknown. Judging from its appearance, I calculate a 90% chance it belonged to a young girl. Over 80% of ghosts are said to harbor some kind of unfulfilled desire. I suggest you cease being scared and speak to her."
  • "This is the hand of a ghost. Identity while alive is unknown. Judging from the look of this hand, the probability that it was a young girl's is 90%. Master, the letter you gave her from Cawlin has inspired feelings for him. The original purpose of the letter is still unclear."

Those are the only two comments Fi makes about her. I'll change her name back in light of this. However, I'd like it if you could find the pages that call her "Phoeni" so that we can source it somewhere. — Abdul [T] [C] [S]  04:16, 20 December 2011 (EST)

...huh. Well gotdammit, Prima.
Anyway, it's the page in the side quest appendix covering the Cawlin quest. I'll try to look it up when I get home.KrytenKoro 09:41, 20 December 2011 (EST)
Bumping cause I thought Phoeni should be mentioned somewhere. The name is from Page 231 of the Prima guide. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 11:33, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The name is mentioned in the Trivia section. A reference would be nice, though. — Hylian King [*] 11:38, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, I cited some quotes from the guide. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 12:05, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Moaning Myrtle

Is it possible that ??? from SS could be a reference of “moaning” Myrtle from the Harry Potter-series? I mean, both of them is ghosts and both of them live on toilets. --Niklas 10:53, 26 January 2012 (EST)

How is that Off-Topic? I just thought of it, so we could set it in on trivia or something as a referance! --Niklas 12:42, 27 January 2012 (EST)
In that case, it is relevant. The way you wrote your inquiry earlier, it would have been better posed to a forum. In the future, make sure you relate any trivia or theoretical question to a change to the page itself, it's the only thing these discussion pages are used for! :) — ciprianotalk 13:01, 27 January 2012 (EST)

Gender

Where in Majora's Mask and Oracle of Ages is it confirmed that ??? is a male. The only mention of its gender is in Skyward Sword, and it is female. Jeangabin 19:00, 31 March 2012 (EDT)

Do you REALLY think a female would make those noises? Deadhandlord7777<>v<>v 19:38, 26 June 2012 (EDT)

Who knows? S(he) is already messed up enough living in a toilet. Verbal distortion hardly seems to compare. PianoMastR64 09:59, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

hand enemy

I'm not finding an article of the hand enemy. You know the one that comes out of the ceiling and grabs you and takes you back annoyingly far... sometimes to the very beginning. There's one in oot that is simply fought and can only be seen with the eye of truth. It splits into three. This would be fun to make if it doesn't already exist. This may sound off topic, but I'm not sure where to put it since I cant find the article. PianoMastR64 10:05, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

You're thinking of the Wallmaster and the Floormaster. If you're having a hard time putting an image to a name, we have galleries of all the enemies in each game for that purpose. — Hylian King [*] 10:17, 21 July 2012 (EDT)
I was just about to write this ( ok so I found it. Its called the wallmaster and floormaster. I think a "see also" section should be included with links to some hand enemies, but I don't want to be the one to decide which ones to use. ) thanks PianoMastR64 10:29, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

Split Hand and Phoeni

Do we know if Hand and Phoeni are the same character, all are arms stuck in toilets that want paper, but that's it. Phoeni is a ghost, and Hand seems to be a refrence. They all have diffrent names and orgins though, it's kind of like the Lost Old Man was split from Old Man despite having similar roles, they are technically diffrent characters. Gopherdude12 (talk) 03:31, 26 December 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Phoeni's name is sourced from Prima's guide, which has at times been a dubious source. The name "Phoeni" is not considered wholly official, but we have it on the page for documentation sake and for the sake of having a name. I guess you could say it's there as a "placeholder" name of sorts. But Phoeni is otherwise not entirely official as it has not been backed by official Nintendo sources. With that said, there's not much warrant in splitting the two. - Midoro (T C) 03:37, 26 December 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
