Temporary/permanent ALttP effect

Hi, I notice that TrueZelda has changed "permanently freeze foes"->"Temporarily freeze foes". A quick check with an emulator and it seems that they are permanently frozen as long as they are on screen, and once sufficiently off screen, they can respawn, despawn, or whatever I think, which may have given the impression of temporariness? Well, I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking. --KokoroSenshi (talk | contribs) 01:02, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm pretty sure the Ice Rod's freezing effect is only temporary. Although I may be thinking of the Ether Medallion. I recently watched a video of ALttP, and the enemies were able to thaw. - Midoro (T C) 02:12, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmmm... Would you be able to direct me to the video? Using the snes9x emulator when I freeze enemies with either the Ether medallion or Ice rod and put ~16x speed and hold it for a while (i.e. holding the spacebar) I've never seen them defrost. I tried it on and had: some monsters in the Darkworld around the pyramid freeze, and then back to the light world around the castle, the red soldiers are unaffected, the green ones die, the blue ones freeze. --KokoroSenshi (talk | contribs) 03:47, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Actually it appears I was mistaken. They don't thaw out with Ether. - Midoro (T C) 06:21, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Then did they thaw with the Ice rod? --KokoroSenshi (talk | contribs) 08:33, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I tried it myself and they stay frozen, so the phrase was correct before. - Chuck * (Talk) 21:16, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
