Order

There are many ways to complete the levels in Ocarina of Time. I have completed this game many times and have tried many different orders. I'll list the abbreviations in the normal order. That is the order that Navi tells you to go in.

  • Forest Temple - FT
  • Fire Temple - FR
  • Water Temple - WR
  • Shadow Temple - SW
  • Spirit Temple - SP

Here are the orders.

  • FT→FR→WR→SW→SP
  • FT→FR→WR→SP→SW
  • FT→FR→SP→WR→SW
  • FR→FT→WR→SW→SP
  • FR→FT→WR→SP→SW
  • FR→FT→SP→WR→SW

There are probably more possibilities, but these are the only ones that I can remember.--Emma 01:16, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I also just realized that the following orders are also possible. It is assuming you enter and, but not complete, other levels for any necessary items.

  • SP→FT→FR→WR→SW
  • SP→FR→FT→WR→SW
  • SP→WR→FT→FR→SW
  • SP→WR→FR→FR→SW
  • SP→WR→FT→SW→FR
  • SP→WR→FR→SW→FT
  • WR→SW→FT→FR→SP
  • WR→SW→FR→FT→SP
  • WR→SW→FT→SP→FR
  • WR→SW→FR→SP→FT
  • WR→SW→SP→FT→FR
  • WR→SW→SP→FR→FT
  • WR→SP→FR→FT→SP

There are a lot more, but you get the general idea. With this concept of obtaining items from temples and then leaving before finishing, along with the fact that the Shadow Temple always has to be after the Water Temple, we can figure out how many ways there are to finish the levels. First we start off with all the possible places of these two temples. I'll use xx to represent a wildcard.

  1. xx→xx→xx→WRSW
  2. xx→xx→WR→xx→SW
  3. xx→xx→WRSW→xx
  4. xx→WR→xx→xx→SW
  5. xx→WR→xx→SW→xx
  6. xx→WRSW→xx→xx
  7. WR→xx→xx→xx→SW
  8. WR→xx→xx→SW→xx
  9. WR→xx→SW→xx→xx
  10. WRSW→xx→xx→xx

So that is ten different places for those temples. In each of those, there are six possible ways to arrange the other three temples. So, six times ten equals sixty. That means that are sixty different ways to finish the five temples. Given this, perhaps we should only list the default way, the path suggested by Navi, on this article. Agreed?Emma (Talk) 20:23, July 13, 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't get around to this sooner, but yes. I'll also mention at the bottom that it's possible to get them out of order. —Ando (talk) 13:31, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
On the game itself, although the Shadow Temple is technically the fifth temple, according to Navi, the Shadow Medallion itself occupies the sixth slot. Thoughts? Felicia's Champion, 00:12, 17 July 2008 (EST)

Now that you mention it, yeah, I remember looking at that and thinking "wait wtf???" I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The Chamber of Sages is oriented the same way. So we go with Navi or the interface? —Ando (talk) 14:38, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My opinion would have to be interface. --Felicia's Champion 13:41, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I can see why some might think that the interface way would by official way. But the Spirit Temple, as Adult Link, is slightly harder without first getting the Hover Boots. As Adult Link , in the room with the rolling rock, you normally need the Hover Boots to get the last Silver Rupee to unlock the door. To get it without the Hover Boots, you have to do a rolling jump off the ledge and let yourself get hit by the rock. It will then knock you into the Silver Rupee. it is quite a hard to do and could take many tries. Given how you have to finish the Spirit Temple if you don't get the Hover Boots first, we should stick with the Navi-suggested path. We can also say right in the Shadow and Spirit parts that it is possible to complete the levels in the interface way. But stating that in another sentence from the one that says what number it is. So thats, one sentence to say the Navi order. And another to say the interface order if it differs. Also, should organize the medallion sections by the Navi order instead of alphabetically?Emma (Talk) 15:21, July 17, 2008 (UTC)

First, for Matt who is right above me, the part of the spirit temple with the rocks, you just run, roll off the edge, then do an aerial jump attack when your about to hit the silver rupee, you don't have to murder yourself with the rock.

Okay, the Spirit Temple cant be accessed before completing the forest Temple, in order to get the Lens of Truth, and before half of the Water Temple, in order to get the Longshot. Also, the Shadow Temple can't be accessed unless the forest, fire, and water temples are completed. And so it's possible to get the fire medallion last. Wind-Themed

In the part of this article that talks about Saria's part in Ganon's Castle originally being wind-themed, that site it references is now defunct. However, I still looked through the site using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to browse the site. A list of archived versions of the site can be found here. I looked through and could not find any reference to this wind-theme Saria section of Ganon's Tower. For now, I removed the reference and added a citation needed tag. Thoughts anyone?Emma (Talk) 20:23, July 13, 2008 (UTC)

Not just "originally", but "currently". Saria's section of Ganon's Tower is a jumping puzzle with fans, similar to sections of the Shadow Temple. You need to use the hover boots and hookshot to collect a series of floating rupees without falling off the columns to unbar the door. There's wind all over the place.

Likewise, Ruto's section of Ganon's Tower is ice rather than water-themed. You have to defeat two Freezards, melt some red ice, and solve a sliding ice-block puzzle.

(Name)'s power is added to yours!

How, specifically, is their power being added to yours if all their power combined is only capable of creating a rainbow bridge?

well, that is true, I mean you just save them all just to make a bridge to ganon's castle... RupeeLord 19:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Originally the game was supposed to have the medallions on the C buttons. - AtrumLevis  (My Talk Page) (My Contributions) 01:01, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

New images

My got picture got replaced, these new ones are better, the quality is much higher than the last, though.Steve 20:24, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

They need to be PNG though. PNG will have better transparency and a smaller filesize for the same quality.Emma (Talk) 20:53, January 5, 2009 (UTC)
Steve, make sure your preferences, and your sig2 page, both point to the right thing.
Oh I though he just re-uploaded them on mine (which is what should've been done). I think there's a problem with ImageMagick when scaling .png files, they seem to appear blurry when scaled down.Steve 20:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just trying to rid the unsourced images, slowly but surely. If those were your images Steve, then ya just forgot to source them. Mases 21:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Triforce Symbol

This is really kinda pointless but thought I'd mention it anyway. I noticed it for a split second or so when the medallions are falling to Link. They have a Triforce emblem on one side of them. Just found that kind of interesting. Doesn't have to necessarily mean anything, but for some reason, I figured they'd be the same on both sides...I just found it kinda intriguing, that's all. Contradictory Info

The information contradicts itself on the page. The first paragraph says no one knows what the medallions originally were supposed to do (but may have been used to teleport), and then anothern note said they were going to be used to cast spells. I'm going to fix this into one part, so you know why. :3 Roccie 00:13, 3 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In Skyward Sword

I have noticed all that the symbols on the medallions are on the roof of the out side of the Sealed Temple after you bring the Isle of the Goddess down from Skyloft. If you want the pictures for them I can get them but ill have to email them to you cause I can't edit. Plus I don't know if it should go on this article or not. EpicDude25 19:41 PST March 31, 2012

Renaming

To my knowledge, "Sage Medallion" is a conjectural title that is not used officially. I checked a text dump and these medallions are only ever collectively known as "Medallions" in-game. (The manual calls them "Sage's Medallions" once, but I'm inclined to think that "sage's" is more of a possessive determiner than a part of an actual title, especially since they're referred to as simply "Medallions" twice on the same page). Zelda.com calls them "Spiritual Medallions".

As such, I propose that this page be renamed either "Spiritual Medallions" or just "Medallions." The latter is obviously preferable since it's the only one used in-game. — Hylian King [*] 02:01, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I agree. The only issue is the exact title of the Medallions from A Link to the Past. While they're listed as Magic Medallions here, I'm not sure if that's an official title or not. They may also simply be known as Medallions in the game and manual, just like these. They're usually just referred to by Quake, Ether or Bombos too. I will check if there's an official term for all three. Of course, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a page covering both, but... Fizzle (talk) 05:36, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I had thought of that as well. "Magic Medallion" is official, it's in page 41 of the original English manual. — Hylian King [*] 11:50, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well in that case, I think it would make most sense to leave the "Magic Medallion" page as it is. As for this page, I think we should move it to "Medallion", because that's the only title they're ever given in-game. Dannyboy601Talk 12:25, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Guess there's not much to say. No evidence points towards "Sage's Medallion," so standards decree that we rename the page to "Medallion".User:Justin ZW/sig 16:53, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Taijitu Symbol

The Taijitu Symbol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yin-yang_symbol) and the Spirit Medallion look similar.Gomess 512 (talk) 01:10, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
