from Nintendo.com forums: The Moa is a cyclopic ghosty thing that flies at Link from the moment it sees him. Every time it collides with Link, he loses not only a moderately large amount of health, but also a few experience points. Weakness - Link can defeat a Moa the same way he would any other enemy: slash it with his sword. Since they fly, though, it's best to use the Upward or Downward Thrust.
