Naming

Does it really make sense to title this page 'Nightmare Key'? While the Link's Awakening remake may be the most recent game to feature them, that's a name that can only apply to Link's Awakening, and it's obvious that they'll be called Big Keys or Boss Keys the next time a Zelda game features them. Well, even if you search Big Key or Boss Key it will redirect you to the Nightmare Key page, so it doesn't matter much what the main page is named, right? It still takes the readers to where they want to go, just under a different name. β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 05:05, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
By that logic, we wouldn't have to move Gannon to "Ganon" as long as Ganon redirects to it. Common sense should override the policy of using the most recent name here. Raymond1922 (talk) 04:34, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, no, because the name of the page would be spelled incorrectly. Aeon was talking about different A.K.A terms for the same object, like Nightmare Key and Big Key, which are all canon names. Gannon is not a canon A.K.A and is just misspelled name, which has been corrected and has stayed that way for a long time. The name of the page does matter in terminology, but for readers we have redirects to assist with that. β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 20:40, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
A better analogy: say Majora's Mask 3D kept the original game's spelling of "Wizrobe". Would that mean we would move the Wizzrobe page to Wizrobe because it was the "most recent spelling"? No, that'd be silly, because every game before and since Majora's Mask has used the spelling "Wizzrobe". Likewise, no game other than Link's Awakening and remakes has called Big Keys Nightmare Keys. Going by the current policy we actually would move the page to Wizrobe. In recent years the wiki staff has trended towards deciding almost everything through policy and applying that policy in every single case regardless of whether it actually makes sense to do so.
Even with the wiki politics being the way they are, one can assume things will eventually turn out OK once some new release re-introduces the term Big Key or Boss Key. PhantomCaleb (talk) 15:40, 27 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
User:MagicMason1000, would you move Wizzrobe to "Wizrobe" if Majora's Mask 3D kept that spelling?
I'm kind of jumping in the middle here, but this is somewhat irrelevant because Breath of the Wild uses "Wizzrobe" and came out after Majora's Mask 3D. That being said, I have tried suggesting that we use a "series" or "franchise" name as a revision to the current policy, which would allow us to use "Big Key" or "Boss Key", but that didn't fly with all the staff. – Ceiling Master 22:10, 9 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I meant if Majora's Mask 3D used the spelling "Wizrobe", would the page have been moved there before Breath of the Wild came out? It's a hypothetical to show how absurd moving this page to "Nightmare Key" is. rjd1922 (talk) 02:02, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
