Talk:Palace of Darkness
Latest comment: 10 August 2018 by Link Lab in topic I moved the page to make it easier.
Maybe I'm missing something, but is there any reason to call this a shadow dungeon beyond its name? The puzzles, visuals, and enemies do not suggest an elemental theme.--Osteoderm Jacket 07:04, 13 January 2012 (EST)
I don't remember much of A Link to the Past but you're probably right. However, the Dark Palace in A Link Between Worlds seems like a Shadow Dungeon. --Planetbox (talk) 01:02, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
- Definitely. It has puzzles that rely on light and shadow.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:10, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
- There's also the fact that the Shadow Temple and Dark Palace literally have the same name in Japanese. Also a large portion of the lowest floor is pitch black even in the original dungeon. The Palace of Darkness is the ORIGINAL Shadow Temple. ※Fizzle (talk) 19:48, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with Gwydion that we should try to be consistent in our fan translations; if we translate Yami no Shinden as "Dark Temple" (or, considering it is meant to refer to the elemental force rather than the adjective, perhaps "Darkness Temple") on the OoT page, we should do it here as well.KrytenKoro (talk) 21:49, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- In addition, the trivia claims that Yami no Shinden is the name of the Temple of Darkness in FSA, but that dungeon's article claims it is Ankoku no Shinden. Which is correct?KrytenKoro (talk) 21:49, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- I disagree, even if they have the same Japanese name, they are entirely different places. For one, the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time is in Kakariko Graveyard, whereas the Palace of Darkness is not. On a second note, the Palace of Darkness is in the Dark World while the Shadow Temple is not. I just corrected the Palace of Darkness' page as FSA uses Ankoku. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 22:12, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting that we merge the pages, I'm suggesting that we are consistent in our translations. I'm willing to compromise if we get official translations from Nintendo of Japan, but otherwise it doesn't make sense to translate the same word a different way on every page.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:39, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- I never said you did, consistency is unnecessary because even if they use the same spelling in Japanese, they are two different places, in two different locations, and are in two separate worlds, Light and Dark. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 22:47, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I see what you mean, then. I disagree, as we have ample evidence in the series of the same name being given to different subjects, and being intended to mean the same thing to illustrate a link (even if sometimes the link is weak). Temple of Time in SS and OoT, for example.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:22, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- The Japanese ending called it, Dark Palace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvURpjxMgUE. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 15:42, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Okay. Did the wiki ever get consensus on whether to use translations or official romanizations?KrytenKoro (talk) 17:25, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Right now, I'm playing both ALTTP SNES and ALTTP GBA in Japanese, I'm grabbing screens of every possible mention to have thorough proof and to come up with a proper decision!!! --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 17:44, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

I moved the page to make it easier.
Well I moved the page, sorry if that screwed anything up. I cant figure out why there are two pages now... sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MagicMason1000 (talk) 02:23, 10 August 2018 {UTC)
- It appears that rather than moving the page, you made a copy of the page on the new name. I have deleted the copy as it is preferred that pages are moved using the special page to preserve the history of the pages. However, it appears that since the request to move this page was added, new information has been released and a move is no longer required. I will update the page to reflect this.
